Yeah, exactly. I might make it an early start just to miss the bank holiday traffic and to have the best chance of getting a decent parking spot….arriving between 9 and 10 sort of thing! Possibly even earlier! (Which is normally my bedtime!). 
I was there at 9am on Friday and it was already filling up!

There are about 40-50 parking spaces there, so there may be no space and you have to look for a space in the parking lot at the entrance.
it can be very difficult to find a place
I think a better idea would be to meet where the beach houses end, right where the trees begin - it might be more peaceful there, a bit less people, and there’s a place to hide from the sun in the shade 
I cycle down on my regular trips as I live just up the road 
You won’t have much room where the trees start if the tide is right in. That becomes a very narrow section of beach and if it’s extremely busy tomorrow you’re going to need some room.
Trying to find reasonable hotels close by so I can get there early, as the drive from where I am is nearly 2hr 40min
