Additional notes:
We'll take another look at the weather forecast closer to the date, but hoping to fit this one in next week.
It's a public park, so there may be some people/dogs. Sub-250g camera drones likely the only thing we can (easily) fly here.
Have checked that there are no ongoing airspace restrictions and no restrictions on TOAL under the park's byelaws (unless your drone is powered "by the combustion of petrol-vapour or other combustible substances"…)
18:00 is the earliest I'll be able to get there after work but if people want to meet up earlier to catch more of the light, please feel welcome!
More seriously though, don’t wanna rain on anyone’s parade, are we sure that Hampton Court and a typically vast area around it isn’t included in that Article 239 nightmare ? I can imagine an almost endless list of reasons authorities wouldn’t want people flying anywhere near that…
It’s a historic palace right? Not a national security installation as far as I am aware. But I’m not certain - I guess we’ll find out and report back I suppose over time we’ll all be building up a useful list of places that are and are not affected by 239.
As we are there, mere feet away from the Diana Fountain, I can’t help but feel she would have approved of low flying aerial craft memorializing her monument, in a way that other authorities may not, for that surely must be among the main temptations here That, and the epic tree-lined parade leading up to it…
I’ll come and spectate if the rest of you hold a competition to see who can PoI the Hampton Court Palace the closest for the longest ! Bonus points for anyone that lands on the roof of the clock tower ! Sorry, am I not entering into the spirit of the event ?!
I’m really sorry but I have to pull out of the Meet Up on Thursday. I have a short-notice appointment now, which I really cannot afford to miss, and would probably mean the earliest I could get there would be after 7.
No worries at all! I may still go if it’s dry. But looking ever less likely with this weather XD have put another meet up for this weekend at Blackheath if you’re around.
@aztec I know I just said thinking about, but to be honest with travel a minimum of an hour each way and likely longer, I am not going tomorrow. Thanks for organising and also for the Blackheath event, which is even further, so alas I will not be there either.
So I suppose the solution is to organise my own meetup!.
