Meridiana Wine Estate, Malta

Made this video of Malta’s only winery, last year and forgot to publish it!

DOES MALTA PRODUCE ITS OWN VINTAGE WINE?

Meridiana Wine Estate is located in Ta’ Qali, Malta, taking advantage of the island’s ideal Mediterranean climate. The estate enjoys long, sunny days and cool, breezy nights, creating optimal conditions for grape growing.
Ta Qali is a huge plateau situated a few kilometres away from Mdina and Rabat and is the former WWII RAF air-field that was built and used by the British Forces stationed in Malta.
Meridiana was established here in 1985, and the estate was founded with the vision of producing world-class wines using local and international grape varieties. The estate’s philosophy is to blend traditional wine-making techniques with modern technology to achieve excellence.
The name “Meridiana” refers to the Latin word for sundial, symbolizing the estate’s dedication to quality and precision in winemaking. The sundial motif is also reflected in the estate’s logo.
The Estate spans 19 hectares and grows a variety of grapes both indigenous and international such as Chardonnay, Vermentino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Meridiana is committed to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. The estate employs environmentally friendly techniques in the vineyard and winery, focusing on reducing their carbon footprint and promoting biodiversity.
Meridiana Wine Estate is a popular destination for wine enthusiasts visiting Malta. They offer guided tours and tastings, allowing visitors to explore the vineyards, learn about the winemaking process, and sample their wines in a picturesque setting.
The estate is located near the ancient city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital, adding a layer of historical and cultural significance to its wines. The proximity to such a historic site enhances the allure and charm of the winery.

Hope you enjoy the vid as much as I did the wine! :hugs: and if you liked it, (the vid, not the wine )I have many more on my YT channel @DocColVideo.

Great vid, like the combo of internal shots to break up the footage. Did you use a gimbal / boom for that and was it a different camera? I have been tasked to create a video for a local business which will include some internal shots. I am toying with holding the drone in my hand to get 4K material vs using my phone - which won’t be as high quality.

@Pirbright_Drone Yes I did use a gimbal but not with a boom. I have a DJI Osmo 6 gimbal that I use with my Samsung s22 phone. I record both the drone and the phone footage in 4k:30.

I personally wouldn’t use the drone, for long periods at least, for hand filming as it tends to overheat without the prop cooling. That said, I have done some short sequences after flying with my mini 4 pro.

The thing is, for every 5 seconds of ground footage in the videos each come from 3 or 4 minutes of footage and loads more don’t even see the light of day from the ‘cutting room floor’. You would be severely compromised in terms of time and quality with a drone used in this way.

Conversely, I rarely film for more than 10 mins in the air before I have all the variety of shots I need and most of the footage is used.

I haven’t bothered myself, but the Osmo Pocket 3 is loved by a lot of my dronie friends if you fancy splashing out £500ish on a new one!
