Meteor 75 O4 Emergency fix

Crashed the Meteor in big style on our Playing Fields tonight. No idea how I managed to do it, but the frame broke where 3 of the main screws for the board go in. Thankfully I planned ahead and had a spare frame at hand.

Note the dental floss holding the antenna. Saves me from searching for it when the plug comes loose. Genius little trick. Works better than glueing the plug, I find.

… and not even a video of the crash? :innocent:
There is even a thread dedicated to those unfortunate but quite regular events

I actually record very little at the moment. I enjoy the flying way too much.

I am on my 4th frame this year! Not impressed with the fragility of these, so FWIW I just added one of these:

I just found this on AliExpress: | For BetaFPV Meteor75 Pro Carbon Fiber Chassis Motor Installation Plate Strengthen Lightweight Bottom Board Drone Frame Part

Does make the frame significantly stiffer, early days but it has taken a few big hits and frame has survived so far. :crossed_fingers:

Another crash, another frame broken on the Meteor 75. I also lost one of the long screws that connect the boards to the frame. This happened while on hols. Of course I didn’t bring any spares.
Thankfully I should have a video of the crash this time. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: Something to look forward to. I might look into that CF frame support, though inspecting it seems to suggest the impact was directly on the canopy, which was ripped out of the sockets again.

Oh I also crashed my Avata 2 on top of a mountain within 2 minutes of flying. I got too excited to fly up on the Welsh hills! The gimbal is slightly bent but doesn’t seem to affect flying at this stage.

It’s been an eventful holiday!

Care Refresh claim :+1:t2:

Definitely. I think I’ll try and eke it out until the next crash, as it is still holding up.

Update: I’ve just seen that Care Refresh gives me up to 4 replacements. In that case I’ll get it replaced now. I thought I only had 3.

Here is a link for the Avata footage. This is post crash. Don’t expect any FPV artistry at this stage. I also realised I hadn’t flown the Avata in quite a while. Too much tiny whooping!

Temporarily fixed the whoop with some dental floss. Feels sturdy enough. Will give it a careful try in a moment.

When on holiday….

Turns out the damage to the Avata 2 gimbal was just a camera hinge that had come loose from a rubber gasket. It’s ok for now. Although the frame has taken a slight hit. Given that Care Refresh still charges me £39 for the replacement, I think I hold fire with it for now.

Is this the precise one you bought? There are various other offers on AE but I’d rather go with one that’s been tried and tested already.

I ended up ordering the one you linked to (Thank you!).

In the meantime I changed frames again and have now what’s called a Storm Trooper Whoop.

Yes the one in the link is exactly what I bought
