Mini 2 prop guards

I have crashed my little drone a few times and now have a DJI Mini 2
I have seen you can buy prop guards and wondered if these impede the drone in any way and would you recommend them
Thanks

The drone detects their weight and goes into a restricted mode, not sure if you can override it. I have them and I’ve only used them a few times for indoor flying, family photo the last time.

I wouldn’t recommend them outdoor except on a very calm day, could catch the wind.

I purchased some from Amazon for my Mini 3 Pro and they didn’t seem to affect performance. However, each side comes in two parts and they have to be pushed together before fitting. They’re quite flimsy and broke on the third use.

I use them, but only when flying indoors. I have used them outside once, never again. Well maybe in the woods when there is absolutely no wind. As pointed out above they are very flimsy and need to be treated carefuly when fitting and removing. In use though they seem to stand up to bouncing off the walls and bits of machinery.
If you’re not intending on flying indoors then there isn’t much point in them. You’d be better served by putting the money towards another battery.

The official Mini 2 guards aren’t too flimsy, mine have bounced off more than a few walls. You’d have to be going at speed to do some damage.

Even with guards on, don’t fly too close to walls & ceilings. They (walls &.ceiling) affect the air flow and your drone will appear to get a mind of it’s own. Really really don’t fly in a very small downstairs loo, it goes mad

As there are no DJI propeller guards for the Mini 3 Pro, I resorted to a 3rd party offering. Sadly, as so often, not up to standard. However, I returned them to Amazon, who issued a refund.

Outside they act like a sail so best to avoid when windy or gusty. That said they help to make the drone more visible at a distance. They’ll also reduce the flight time due to increased weight and wind resistance. Hope that helps!

I think based on the replies I will save the money and forget the idea … Thanks everyone

I have the DJI prop guards, they are easy to put on and take off and protect the props and the drone when wishing to fly near foliage, such as a woodland, bushes etc. In the wind they have no effect whatsoever, in any wind over 20mph the Mini 2 is affected, the props do not act like a sail. I have actually damaged a prop due to not using the guards and needed to change the prop.

Personally, ask yourself this, where do you intend to fly, is the risk of flying without guards worth it? If the props strike and down the drone can you retrieve it should you not use guards?

I have them but only used the them for the first month or so of using my DJI Mini 2 until I gained confidence - first drone. I couldn’t say that they affected performance at all.
