Had a quick search and found positive reviews of DroneDoctor and a member who had a good experience of DJI’s out of warranty service.
Is DroneDoctor still the best for UK based repairs?
Is anyone able to give me an idea of how much it might cost to repair my drone based on the photos? I understand there may be other issues that are not visible.
May consider buying a second hand Mini 2 if the repair costs over £200.
I broke the gimbal (or rather, someone else did) and the quote I got to just repair that was more expensive than a new drone. I ended up using the care refresh. I’ll see if I can dig out the quote I was sent, but it was over £200 from DJI. Maybe they inflate that price because they just want to send out a refurbed unit rather than repairing it?
Prices for a replacement gimble are £80 - £100 on the bay (new) add in the price of the shell and the time it will take to carry out repairs and test it? Plus what else they might find when pulling it apart? Could be wrong but I think the money would be better spent on the mini 4k unless you can find a decent used mini2 on its own? You could possibly offset some of the cost by stripping the good parts out of the broken one and selling them individually?
My Mini 3 suffered damage to the gimbal, and I got the spare parts (rubber mounts & camera cable) for about £25.
I easily found a Youtube video on dismantling the gimbal and replacing the camera cable.
However, although I do have very good manual skills, it was a very fiddly job, taking a couple of hours.
