Mini 4 Pro Storage - screen recording can't download

I’m having trouble locating my screen recording in order to download it. This hadn’t been a problem previously. I’ve set my controller (DJI RC 2) to save to the SD and previously I’ve been able to transfer photos, videos and screen recordings by putting the SD card into my computer. The screen recordings may have been in a different file / folder but were definitely on the SD. So something has changed.

I thought maybe the setting had changed after removing the SD card so have made sure in Camera settings, it is set to save to the card. I also went into Profile / Settings / Storage and it showed there it set up to internal storage so I selected SD card and Switch to migrate date to new storage (see photo). After doing this I still could not find the file and despite it now saying there is no data to migrate the internal storage is showing 11.3GB of data used.

EDIT: Apologies I just watched this video and see how to find the file and move it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM_hS1AM9X4 but this doesn’t explain everything because I’ve never moved it like this before. And it doesn’t explain the volume of data still on the internal storage. Do I need to clear the cache?

I’ve tried connecting the RC directly to the computer with a USB C but for some reason it doesn’t connect. It seems to connect then disconnect immediately and so I cannot see any files. Photo shows message I’m getting. I tried a different cable and with the drone connected and disconnected. Can’t think of anything else to try.

Anyone had this issue or able to help?

thanks

I’ve bookmarked that YT video as it is a useful aide memoire. The file structure of these controllers is really confusing and takes a while to memorise. It isn’t logical in my opinion. Glad you finally got it sorted. I can’t tell you how much time I have spent trying to figure out things like this! That said the GADC is a great resource for this kind of thing as well.

Is there the possibility that the controller was switched off before closing/finishing the screen recording?
This may leave the file taking up SD card space, but not appearing as a valid named video file in the directory listing. Sometimes putting the card back in, starting a new temporary recording, and closing that temporary recording will force a re-index of the SD card directory, but it’s not guaranteed.
There are other data recovery steps that can be taken, but the cost of doing so may far exceed the perceived value of the data.

A little while ago I had a senior moment and switched off the controller before closing the screen recording and I couldn’t get access to the file. The file name started with a full stop. Rename the file by simply deleting the full stop at the start the file name and it will become accessible as a legitimate file.

Thanks - I think I did make that mistake in my haste to get away from people!
I will take a look now I know how to find the files.

I’ll check that too. Thanks

Has anyone had trouble connecting the RC2 to their computer via USB though? The manual says I can do this but the computer won’t read the files in internal storage. It pops up in File Explorer but then disappears and shows that message.
