hi all just bought a min 5 pro off marketplace to find it bound to another account contacted the seller who is not replying i have it bound to controler in my details and it seems ok but will it stop flying and do i have A600 quid paper weight cheers in advance

Unless the previous owner removes this drone from his account, after about 6 flights you’ve got a paperweight!

How did you pay? Credit cards have section 75 to get your money back.
It could be a stolen drone. Have you checked out the seller’s profile to see if it is a new account?
I presume you met him in a open space like a carpark ?
If I was buying something expensive I would have to collect from there house. I was looking for a phone recently and as there so many fake ones that I would only have bought from there doorstep and found when inquired especially the to good to be true deals that wanting to meet on the side of the road.
If he’s not replying and still selling items maybe find a friend or even setup a fake Facebook account from location which is distance from seller and getting into a conversation and look desperate to buy and try get his address especially if big items that might need to be seen working at a house. If seller does fall for it then back out of sale and then you having the address call at door with drone and request to unbind it if he won’t then threaten him with the police as there is only one other reason he had the drone in his possession.
Goodluck it’s heartbreaking when this happens.
If it came with SD card look for ContactInfo.txt and you should find the owners information.
Can contact DJI but they will not give you details but I think they ask you send it back to them which would be last you ever hear about it.

I know you could sell it as locked and recoup some of the money lost but not what I would do unless I’ve honestly tried all avenues as you become part of the problem of stolen drones.
the guy delivered it to me and seemed honest said it was new and not even activated even paid extra 20 quid for fuel , had no reason to check as it was all boxed still in all the wrapping , big mistake now he’s blocked me from facebook

Not wise on these things, do DJI bind refesh replacemnts at source, given the OP said it was sealed box?
It is a common scam for crooks to reseal boxes these days. Be very wary of “boxed and sealed” items.

Might be worth contacting DJI direct, they may be able to confirm which account it is bound to and if it is ok or listed as stolen. If it’s genuine they may even be able to unbind it. No guarantee but worth a try and may give you evidence to claim your money back.
Contact DJI, whilst they will not give you any information they may be able to share it with the police, I am unsure if any organisations will be able to help. Trading standards may not be able to help as it being a public sale but may have contact details or advice on where to go. Was there a memory card with it. See if you can use an app and retrieve deleted footage, any clues of it if has any flydata. Do not record anything on the card and have it checked for deleted files. Whilst it says it is sealed, if a crook does not think, there could be an operator ID stuck inside the battery compartment. Study it device and try to find anything digital that may help you.
