MOD land

Looking to fly briefly over MOD land - on the edge of it.

This is open parkland without any restrictions for the public. In fact I don’t think people would even know that the land is owned by the MOD.

This is not a base.

Question - should I take off from outside the land? Should I not fly over the land?

Should I take the photo from outside?

Hi @Lydia , it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:

Cant you share the location please

You should inform the gatehouse at the barracks of you’re intentions and make sure you don’t get seen through a scope
It’s 2024 there’s a lot going on in the world right now I wouldn’t push my luck.

Flying legally is fine and if no flight restrictions are in place then there is nothing the mod can do

To be honest I fly around the edge of camp and on there stomping ground most days hence the name lol

I am wondering if it is the same location as I am flying soon.

This is the Wellington statue in Aldershot.

But this needs clearance from Farnborough Airport if it is.

No idea if one should risk taking off from the MOD land. More advanced people can advise on this.

Although there is one video on YouTube clearly showing the drone operator at the start. He is standing by the statue.

If you take off from someone’s land that hasn’t given you permission what’s the crime?

Trespassing isn’t it .

Unless the area is subject to a NOTAM or red FRZ, you should be able to fly over it subject to normal CAA rules, but TOAL will have to be from outside the fence unless you’ve had permission, and I doubt if you’ll get that from the squaddie on the gate. That said, my policy is that the military’s business is none of my business, and it is best to leave them well alone!

Keep an eye out for helicopters TOAL even at minor bases.
