Morning flight at the beach in Lancing, Sussex

Hi all, I’m a drone newbie.

Took my DJI Mini 3 for its first flight this morning. The weather was great and the sea was calm. Don’t think it’s going to stay that way for long. Looking forward to getting out with it more. Need to working on the post-prod tekkers but it’s a start.

Any tips/feedback is much appreciated.

Great to see someone else down at a beach.
At the start the pan around showing the inland view imho is a touch quick. Some of your scene cuts seem a bit disjointed and out of place, at 1.21 you cut to a low down shot and 7 seconds later you are back up, then returned to that low shot at 1.54. At the end you are doing a distant high level coastal shot which looked like it was the closing shot, but you suddenly switch direction to do the pan down closing shot.
Although not always needed or even suitable look at putting in a fade or dissolve or morph transition in as these will soften the abrupt change of scene.
Although the sound of waves is great i would consider a different track as the clattering after a while becomes a distraction.
Think about finding sound effects and place them in and and a soft music track over the top of that.
Other wise a great first edit. And love the downward shot following the line of the edge of the waves.

Thanks for your comments. They pretty much echo my on critique. I fell into the trap of making the video last as long as the music track so padding it out. I didn’t want it to be one long boring stretch of so split it with the others. It was messy. I had the same though about the ending, but liked the camera moving down to face the water and fade out. It’s the start of a long journey, but am eager to learn and do better so I really appreciate your help.

I like the version you created too. One tweak, it’s “Lancing” not “Lansing”.

Lansing is force of Habit as we send stuff to a wharehouse called Lansing.
The video is private so only you have seen it.

Re edited it with the correct spelling.
