Quick trip out today to North Wales, and a cheeky flight at the Mostyn Fun Ship - aka TSS Duke of Lancaster…

Flight was ok, pesky Swifts got a bit close when flying from the northern side, but southern side was ok…

Could I please ask about how you go about licencing the music that you are using? Are you doing it for each individual video or can you buy an extended or blanket licence that allows videos to be posted with music on a website?

Hi Brian,

All the music I use is from one of several free sites, YT, Pixabay, Chosic, all of whom allow you to use the music on YT for free. Some of it is completely copywrite free, some of it has a copywrite that means if you monetise your YT channel then the composer will get the money for those video’s… All of the tunes I use are linked in the Video description on YT…

I would love to have a subrscription to one of the music channels, allows much more music and soun d effects to chose from, but I am married to a Yorkshireman, and getting him to agree to a monthly fee for music is nigh on impossible, hence I use free music on my video at this time…

Specifically I want to use a commercial recording of music composed less than 100 years ago. Would you know whom I would contact (national office, national agency, association of musicians etc.) to licence it or where I might find such info?

Hi Brian,

You woould need to find whoe the copywrite owner / licensee is, and then apply to them for the permission…

Some basic info here - or search the song on google and see whether you can find it that way…
