Rather rough n ready, hadn’t gone out with intention of making a video but to take photographs which I’m more comfortable with. But did take a few clips and of stitched into some sort of vid. Adding music was a pain in the but trying to find what I wanted that was applicable. You might want to turn the volume slider down.
Nicely done Phil, you have a new subscriber
Certainly better than my first Drone video 2 1/2 years ago now
Music choice is spot on, exposure is good, and most of the flying is very good - a few micro adjustments that can be a problem for viewers - try not to change the direction or move the gimbal mid clip - ideally aim for 6 to 10 seconds of smooth flying - if making a move keep it going for that time without changing the movement and it will make it feel more cinematic.
I will offer some unsolicited advice, take or leave it as you will…
If you want to make videos then I would say to practice making smooth multiple movements - such as an orbit where you fly sideways and pan in the opposite direction in order to keep the subject central, or if doing a big panning then add in some sideways opposite flight, or change altitude, these will add dynamism to your footage.
Alternatively you can also use the POV mode to select your subject and then fly around and it will stay in the centre of your screen… There is an Easter Meet up - usually on Good Friday at Blackpool, so perhaps we will see you there - there were a fair number of video posted from it last year - I have a Blackpool Tower video from sunrise on my YT channel, if you want some inspiration…
Good start matey, keep going with the video, you will get there pdq
Loved it - especially the music!
Thank you for your kind comments, I’m still attempting to learn combination stick movements, really I could do with finding some empty place to practice, but so far I’ve just been flying on the prom, or a nice little spot on way to Trough of Bowland. Both places are too busy with obstacles to collide with so I have been flying very cautiously. I have also tried pilling sands nice and open, however I have to pack up by around 10 am (and I,m not really an early riser) due to aircraft carrying parachuters starting to circuit the area.
I don’t think my little mini 2 has pov, the M2Pro has but can’t fly that here.
Thank you. I really wanted the same song played by the Blackpool towers organist but it’s still in copyright.
The beach at Fleetwood is pretty good, fly over the sand and water and you are fairly clear… Alternatively try Beacon Park in Up-Holland near Wigan, an abandoned golf course that affords plenty of opportunity to practice… Failing that, check out the DroneScene map and see what other folks have flown locally…
Dont worry about flying nervously, we all do, confidence comes with time, Im sure it took me 12 months to feel comfortable with flying the drone, nowadays I love flying it, but nerves are still an issue, especially when flying in more confined spaces, such as up waterfalls…
Check out Litchi
Yes I will, I was already considering it for waypoints. If it will work with my little drone a mini 2 se. Also would it affect care n repair?
Won’t affect that , not sure on 2SE capability , works on my 2
Edit, not compatable - DJI didn’t release the SDK for the 2SE
Oh well. Saving pennies for either mini 3 pro or air 2 s, I like the 2 s, however I’ll be subject to similar restrictions as the M2Pro. Presently flying ( it sounds like I,m flying all the time, probably done a dozen or so alltogether since getting the 2 se in Aug) using article 16 or way out in countryside.
Good for you seadog, please post more. Love the music too.
Its a far better video than my first attempt 2.5 months ago. Combi manouvering is a slow old process, I am on the journey to proficiency but I suspect I will need a year of flying before its second nature. Luckily the editor can remove all the scruffiness and bad bits.
Just catching up with technology, I’ve been using Lightroom 5 on a first gen Mac mini for eons and as my newest camera is a Nikon D7000, had got pretty complacent. It wasn’t until I bought the little mini 2 se in August that realised I had a problem, I could only use jpg’s. Wouldn’t recognise raw files or view videos and trying to upgrade op system was a joke.
So at Christmas/70 th birthday I got an M4 Mac mini, Da Vinci resolve (free addition for now), Adobe Lightroom/PS subscription. It,s renewed my interest in photography using the drone gives a whole new perspective.
And now, after seeing the wonderful videos on this forum, trying to think more about undertaking video photography, something that had never occurred to me in the past. But it,s an hell of a steep learning curve for an old git.
You say that seadog but, if you already have been doing photography and some editing, all you really need to learn is how to use Da Vinci. The foundations will be there already from your past experience. I have just agreed some upgrades with my computer tech as I am finding I am using DV now to the extent it is struggling to cope, and that is only after 2 months or so of using it. The learning can be done quickly if you put the time in. Yesterday I went through the process of removing an object (me) from a long and protracted shot where I managed to perform a series of moves all one long transition. Having done it, the timeline would barely even play, so if you have the hardware to run the program, just get stuck in and experiment
