Ignore that and fly, loads on youtube have already ![]()

You have to ask a private limited company for permission to fly from a public road… WTF!
![]()
Sort of understandable if the council are paying Island Roads to look after their highways.
Neither have anything about drone permissions on their websites so go fly.

Complete and utter load of bill hooks. A private company cannot dictate what does and doesn’t happen on publically owned land. Thousands of miles of roads and thousands of roundabouts are managed and maintained by private companies. Just as the maintenance company that maintains the grounds of my flat manage and administers that they cannot dictate what I can and cannot do on it. The only people that can are the freeholders (ie the owners and in your case the Council) and any legal restrictions are written into the lease, much like a council would need a bylaw or equivalent.
Just fly and enjoy yourself.
Absolutely!!

I know some of the members do not particularly like this guy’s channel and I only watch it if the title catches my eye but I’d thought I’d post it anyway.
Doesn’t look particularly different than what I’ve seen recently on the NT website but at least they no longer say you cannot fly over their property.
I flicked through it yesterday… Most if not everything he mentioned has already been discussed at length on here.
Most but not all. ![]()
Yeah we haven’t discussed power looping stone henge… good ol’ xjet…

Agreed. As a serving copper, I can only echo that whoever said you have to ask permission from Island Roads here was talking complete and utter bullsh*t.
Was at National Trust’s Hardwick Hall today and the skies were awash with what looked and sounded like FVP’s. Anyone from GADC? And yes I took a turn around the place. Very nice. ![]()
National Trust Scotland having a moan again - https://twitter.com/N_T_S/status/1672922716330946563
and if you email them to advise them you ARE flying… what are they going to say?.. just the usual BS.
so it’s a double edged sword for them… they spout rubbish… ask you to email them… then they say no to everyone…
if they wanted to REALLY work with the public and be a responsible land owner, they would say something along the lines of
if you intend to fly a drone across our land please kindly let us know so that we can inform you of any events or assemblies of people as a responsible drone pilot. if you are doing it commercially then contact us so we can make the necessary arrangements … let’s work together to enjoy our properties and for the benefit of all users etc…
instead they spout drivel, and we give the one or two fingered salute…
same with all the rest of the trusts!
all you need to know is trespass is a civil matter, period. if you are challenged just keep quiet and take a leaf out of the auditor’s book… don’t give them any details. apparently the landowner needs to tell you to leave. how do I known that the person who is talking to me IS the landowner… they had better have the tittle deeds and land ownership plans on them. be polite… don’t turn it into aggrieved trespass… and don’t appear threatening… silence is better than saying something you later regret
Compare their response to that of the Parks Trust in Milton Keynes.
They are a charity to managed all of the parks around MK, and they have recently updated their drone policy.
Follow the link on this page to read about the policy for recreational drone use. Filming, Photography and Drone Rules | The Parks Trust, Milton Keynes
I was super impressed, and their policy seems to strike the right balance, and ties in perfectly with the CAA rules …. It’s an example many should follow!
HES are pretty much the same. Sorry, but it’s from facebook
Other than insisting that you need a Flyer ID and failing to add “unless the drone is under 250g”. It’s a small detail in an otherwise excellent missive.
It may seem redundant to pretty much regurgitate the Drone Code, which is a large chunk of the document, but at least it shows that they understand it. Apart from the Flyer ID thing. If you’re going to quote regulations then you should get them right.

Did you see this line they came out with “While the CAA don’t have a policy on no overflying above 50m, we do”
![]()
Aye their whole policy is a pile of junk. The only point i agree with is the very first one!!!
I should really reply to their offer of opening a dialogue via email but I don’t know if i can be bothered
And they’ve got it wrong again. Their Twitter post states “at” our land but their recently updated drone policy states “from” our land. I’ve replied to them on Twitter … well … just to wind them up ![]()
Old 2021 policy that doesn’t take into account the new rules but recognises PfCO (which doesnt exist any more) but not GVC that replaces it.
They literally haven’t got a clue.
