See this video of someone snowboarding, filmed by DJI Neo on “Follow” mode.
Everything goes great for about 30 seconds, nice footage, then the Neo decides it has had enough and just stops midair.
Any ideas why? Definitely within the speed range, and it seems to follow over the hill/drop okay, then just stops. Trying to figure out what to avoid doing.
(The original video then has about 3 minutes more footage of the subject trying desperately to connect by phone and land the ****ing thing)
Looks to me that it lost the subject, so it just hovered.
It also seemed to maintain its current altitude and not decent down the slope, probably because it didn’t want to go into negative altitude as the altitude on DJI drones is calculated relative to the take off point.
Just a guess looking at the footage, maybe share the air data for the smarter people to analyse
First time I used follow me I got to the end, turned round and couldn’t find the drone. I’d left the 300m range on, it was 300m from take off point, I’d gone half a mile. Poor little thing was just hovering there crying about being abandoned. Oops.
Aha! Now this sounds promising. The “spray of snow” did sound plausible, and I had wondered if it had some kind of 30 second max recording timer on it, but a “range from takeoff” could well explain it.
But where are you seeing that setting? I’ve seen that in the full-fat app when you are using a RC controller, but if you are just on wifi connection you get that very cut-down view with minimal controls, and I don’t see anything in the “Settings” (I would expect to find it under “Safety” settings but nothing there)
I would say that Follow is the one mode where that makes little sense - same reason it doesn’t have Return To Home, because if it is following you, you ain’t at Home anymore!
