The second comment summed this up
When the police knock on your door, follow these steps:
1)don’t answer
2) see step 1.

And the Thin blue line represents the division line between them and us
Also its not issued so they should not have it on there uniform
Who told you that bollocks ![]()
Yep thats the right way to go. If youre visiting an area you’ll often have no idea what protected places are around town, especially if we’re talking a per building level.
Sensible warnings at common TOAL locations are a good idea.
Are these sites already in dronescene? The local prison and 2 army sites have been in it since I joined.
No, and they probably never will be. Sites don’t have to (and, in some cases, probably shouldn’t) advertise that they are prohibited places, so there won’t be a publicly available dataset to map them all.
Well that’s bloody useless isn’t it ?! ![]()
They should get their own layer in DroneScene ideally.
But they’re going to warn drone flyers with a scattering of warning signs.
#confused
I’m maybe under-thinking things, but this all seems really, really simple to me.
There are some places where National Security means people shouldn’t be wandering about filming stuff. They’ve always existed.
Some of these will be advertised and will have published no-fly zones that you’ll see on apps/maps. Don’t fly in them.
Others won’t be advertised and you may not know you’re flying over them until some form of security comes and tells you. If security taps on your shoulder and tells you to stop because you’re breaching the National Security Act then… you know… stop.
More of these places are about to appear. There won’t be millions of them, but there’s a breathless video explainer with a dramatic title and a click-baitey thumbnail to make us all feel like it’s a catastrophe and we’d all best panic. ![]()
Some of them are mobile as well. So how are you supposed to know where those are. ![]()
Lets not forget though. It is the intent of the flight that is the issue. If you happen to be filming a church near one of these sites, and accidently fly over one of these sites you are very unlikely to get in trouble.
Raf Conningsby have placed signage around the base, especially in the public viewing and photography area set aside for those enthusiasts that take photos of the planes taking off.
I’m guessing some of these places we’re not suppose to know where they are ( Joe Public etc ) then may only find out if when you get a tap on the shoulder to move on,
I’m sure it’d be very unfair to cop an unfortunate one if you legitimately did not know such place existed as there was no warnings / signs etc .
This is the kind of thing that brings further restrictions. The subject of the video clearly knew who Raytheon were and as such knew they were a Defence Contractor.
Even if they only make widgets today, tomorrow they may be making something far more critical to the defence of this country.
Comments like ‘so called authorities’ are not helpful, they are the authorities that can, as the video suggests, have us put in jail, or at the least, further restrictions on our flying in the future.
The police in this instance, were doing their job, no more, no less, well they were trying to do less, they only wanted to impart the restrictions described, but were being stopped by someone who clearly new his rights and knew better than anyone else, but has since been proved wrong, sad.
Don’t get me wrong, many of us have taken the training wheels off drone settings and flew above or beyond the limits, we need to be sensible when confronted in this kind of situation. Fall on your sword, apologise, go do further research if needed, get advice and remove the video until you are 100% sure, even then, ask if this helps the community, or just your agenda or vanity.
What does surprise me is that Drone Scenes haven’t put a restriction on this area, yet.
I think you’ll find if the data is not on dronescene it’s probably because it’s not on altitude Angel ‘ I think ‘ is that correct @PingSpike ![]()
No restriction showing on drone assist either which is backed by AA
