New territory in manual with the Avata. Subways and signs

I had to burn some batteries to test my charging rig in the car so Sunday morning had a practice in manual around some subways near us.

Gotta say, the flight towards the subway entrance made me brick it a bitšŸ˜±, it ainā€™t like itā€™s a soft tree that you crack, itā€™s bloody solid. Same with the road signšŸ¤£. I got there in the end.

Nice spin Ady, especially considering that was manual mode :+1:

Nice flight Ady, but even I felt my stomach twist as you went for the sign post near the end!

Great Flying Ady

How did the charging go :thinking:

Cheers ChrisšŸ‘.

Ive played around there quite a lot, but only once before in manual in Feb I think. So I do know the area, but it still doesnā€™t stop squeaky bum time when Iā€™m entering them subways :rofl:

Thanks paulšŸ‘

On a 60 ah starter battery it took 4.5 hrs using the 46 w output of the Inverter, to charge 4 Avata batteries. Which ended in 50 pc, or there abouts, of the battery left.

Not astounding, but it kind of gives me an idea of what I need to buy.

Iā€™m off to North Wales this weekend to test out the CamperRav set up, awning included, so Iā€™ll get a better idea of what I can run and what I can charge over 1 night :grin:

At the Big Meet, I had 2 batteries linked in parallel

One was 74AH and the Other 50AH, total = 124AH

It took them down to 12.1 volts (40%) and when recharged they took

74AH = 400000mAh
50AH = 260000mAH total = 66000mAH

I flew 34 Times (Mini 3 and Avata) and recharged all the batteries, mainly flying the Avata

I also charged my iPhone, Watch, Laptop, Ipad and @Howard78 Macbook (Watching the Champions of Europe :grinning:)

So was happy with my cheapo set-up :grinning:

Sounds goodšŸ‘. Thatā€™s literally all I want and was probably looking at doing a parallel set up meself after getting out of lazy mode and looking into it.

Now Iā€™ve gotta get into the maths part of it, like what youā€™ve done above. Should be sweet once donešŸ‘

These are the figures I worked out for both batteries in parallel just charging one item

Avata = 41 Charges

Mini 3 = 88

Ipad = 81

Iphone = 130

But that would be to a flat battery, so best to half them values

Thatā€™s some going off your cheapo set upšŸ˜. Even at 50 pc of those values your doing good, youā€™ll get around 5hrs of Avata recharge, canā€™t see you needing that so youā€™ve got battery power to spare for other stuff if Iā€™m correct.

Like I say, Iā€™m off testing the camping set up this weekend, thatā€™s including the power so hopefully Iā€™ll get an idea and then x 2 for if Iā€™m planning 2 nights out. And finally I should be able to work out what capacity batteries I need, probably same as yours or 2 x 60ah or whatever.

I take it your baterries are starters going off you not going below 50pc?

Lead Acid donā€™t like going lower that 50%

50% is around 12.2v isnā€™t it?

Thats after resting too

Though if have a flooded oneā€¦ Most are sealed

Yeah

but ideally, you will have to check the specific manufacturerā€™s data to be accurate as there are so many variables

Rule of thumb donā€™t go much past 12.1 volts

Under load OK to be under I guess? Always nice to learn a few more tips!

This rule of thumb, what exactly is it regardingšŸ˜

The lowest voltage you want to discharge your lead acid battery
