New to DJI drones and is this common?

Apple’s first iPhone with USB C was the 15 and Apple recommended a 20W charger, according to AI they’ve never sold an Apple 5W USB C charger.

@Bazza5662 what brand charger was it? If it’s a charger problem, that needs reporting as well.

The USB A charger plugs were 5W, OP was probably using a USB A to USB C

I think my first port of call would be Argos itself if the drone is still under warranty.

Looking again at those two photo’s, the first one definitely looks like impact damage at the rear. There are two dents at the top and bottom of the plastic just above the battery compartment. I don’t think this it heat deformation. The second photo, the battery, does not show the same melt damage as the hole in the side of the drone, just smoke damage. In my opinion the hot spot is on the drone pcb itself and that melted the plastic. My speculation as to the cause is either A. The main drone pcb was damaged in a crash or B. The charger was faulty. These chargers deliver 5v by default. If more is required then it is negotiated with the device. If the charger was faulty and output a higher voltage before the drone was ready - poof!
As there was no crash damage from Bazza5662 I wonder if this was a repackaged item from Argos. Whatever the cause, Bazza5662 should be reassured this is not common, in fact it is the only case of this happening to a DJI drone I have ever heard of.

they look like dents to me…regardless, never seen this before (in a drone) so whatever the cause, it’s not something for us to worry mainstream about:+1:

How old is the drone? Bought new with dents? or did you do that? How? These will be asked by DJI or any repairer - best of luck:+1: I had a lipo fire at home when putting a 3s 2200mah Radient into storage voltage - horrendous shock and got to the kitchen just in time to get it all out the back door whilst still on fire - only using ammo boxes and the garage now - and ToolkitRC and iSDT chargers for RC lipos

As a regular RC fixed wing flyer amongst a load of regular club members, lipo’s absolutely DO blow up from time to time but fortunately the causes are usually understood. Be safe out there and please don’t ever charge or discharge a lipo indoors if you’re not using a bag, or lipo safe or ammo box…that’s a horribly unnecessary gamble for the sake of a few quid. I charge my DJI batts in their charger - but on a ceramic base…

Fair on Dji, no quibble and a new drone back in the post, can not fault them

Brilliant news and happy flying.

Their warranty claim outcomes, repair service and Express Care Refresh service, is absolutely second to none.

Good to hear, that they sorted you with a new replacement :clap:t2::clap:t2:
