Newbie In Texas

Hello club. Just joined. I’m from Fort Worth, Texas.

I’ve got a couple of drones that I’m still learning to fly (but have been in RC all my life). Just acquired a DJI Mini 3 which I’ve puttered around the yard with. Also have a Mavic Air which I’m trying to revive. Bought it before Covid and it languished for years due to other health issues. Now the flight batteries are dead or in hibernation. I’ll probably be asking a lot of questions about how to revive the batteries.

If there are other members here in the Fort Worth area, maybe we can get in touch.

We are a UK based club, but do have a few other members from across the pond. But the likelihood of them being local to you could be pretty slim.

Just be mindful of the information you read here regarding rules and regulations as they will be UK rules from the CAA and not from the FAA over there in the US.

Other than that, welcome to the mad house, enjoy your stay!

Hi @Gryphean and welcome to GADC.

It must be black stetson season now over there?
Those rules having been explained to me in the Stockyards by some girls my friends subsequently married after our visit in 1989.

Hope your drones cope well with the heat!

You’re exactly correct about the Stetson season. I’ve been limiting my flying to early mornings to beat the heat. Hopefully, the weather will cool soon for more convenient day time flying.

Hello Deano60. Glad to be able to talk to others with similar interest regardless of their location. I’m mostly interested in technical advise now and then.

Our UK flying weather today is “tricky” @Gryphean .

What are your flying conditions like today?

Any photos/videos to share, to remind us over here of what nice weather was like?

Hiya John, welcome from the absolutely crazy gang. If you’ve been flying for any sort of time, a Mini 3 will be no problem, it’ll fly itself.

yes, that mini 3 is a breeze.

Today is wet. 5 inches of rain fell over night. finally broke the two month long drought. Probably no flying this afternoon either…supposed to rain some more.
