Hope this is ok to post here, just noticed that the rear right arm back motor is very noisy, I’m 100% sure it is a bearing problem, had similar issue with my air 2 but had to pay for replacement as it was out of warranty, so I’m hopping DJI will sort this under warranty fingers crossed,
I’ve just got off online chat & did not know I was talking to someone in America, however they sent me the link to which I have submitted a repair to be hopefully done under warranty as it’s not done many hours & unless a dodgy motor I don’t see why one is on the blink, funny thing is, since day one & I thought I was hearing things occasionally at times I thought I heard it making a funny noise, then again I thought I was imagining it, obviously not, when the props are on it pretty much drowns it out, always hand launched & catched has never touched the ground, hey ho hopefully it will get sorted
have a listen
lol
Nope, the pivot that sticks out is loose Wayne, has play side to side the other 3 don’t, defo worn bearings / shaft
@Kirky Sounded like a jack hammer Rich, from a distance whilst making a brew just as the kettle starts to boil … is that something like the description you gave to DJI?
Well Colin @D0c.Col
I didn’t say jack hammer although good shout explanation wise,
I’ve sent them a video the Jack hammer
Plus another video just turning the motors by hand, it’s hundred percent bearings, I had this with an air 2, but, having done 17 hours ( the mavic 3 has ) the predicted life span of DJI motors are suppose to be around 10.000 hours I think it’s not good but is what it is,
Just got the labels come through & ups are picking it up tomorrow, fingers crossed they’ll do it under warranty
I’ll keep the thread updated, many thanks
Update
Got this come through this morning from DJI as I thought, motor / bearings.
Edit : well no sooner I posted this DJI just called to say they are shipping a new device today, I asked if it will be brand new & they assured me it will be, they said they will call again once they can see it’s been delivered to make sure I’m happy
That’s a new one to me them calling, although I have seen it mentioned on here before, happy days hope all is good
Result Rich
Thanks john
Yes am pleased so far, I didn’t take out care re fresh due to a bad experience over 2 years ago,
However maybe the after sales / repairs have upped they’re game since then & now hopefully I can restore some faith in them, maybe for reassurance when this one comes back, albeit well I should stick care refresh on it, as I might not be so lucky next time, hopefully not a next time too soon
Regards.
Little update,
Yesterday I was told I will receive my drone today,
But, it didn’t go anywhere or to shipping rather,
So went online chat today & asked what was happening as to the shipping ie what I was sent, they replied it’s being sent today, ok no probs I said, but, it looks like it’s still not gone anywhere,
Hmmmm
Not sure this is normal hey ho …
Just UPS being busy at Christmas maybe?
Yes maybe had not thought of that, when I was online chat the person sent me a screen shot of a form in Dutch or Netherlands language to which she said her system says it’s leaving today, was only on what she said I thought / believed it would leave today,
Yes maybe Christmas, it’s ok just a little frustrated, I’m on a forum where everyone has drones or at least the majority & I have not, is like teasing a kid with candy figure of speach
Thanks
Edit spoke to soon
Hi just a quick update
Was hoping someone could throw some light on this, I’ve just realised my replacement drone from DJI says EU version, not UK on the box could or would someone kindly know if this is normal when DJI send you out a replacement !
Thanks in advance
@Kirky I believe there are no differences between the two versions Rich. The product numbers are just coded numbers to distinguish the different countries. According to DJI, the appearance and firmware are the same. Be interesting if you can set the max height above 120m though.
Lol don’t start all that again
How mad,
I just posted the above then DJI called me from the Netherlands as they promised so I asked the question whilst on the phone lady replied as I asked if it was normal ( as I asked above in this post ) she replied : because they are in the eu is why it’s eu as they don’t stock uk versions, she confirmed drone / software or firmware are exactly the same as uk version,
She also said the 120 m limit is only on the mini series, ( not going off topic ) but when she mentioned the mini series she said something about ( didn’t quite hear properly her phone line was not good ) but all minis activated before 1st of January 2024 are still classed as what they are today, activation in 2024 changes the classification or something to that effect, as said the line was bad, she’s calling back Wednesday to make sure test / everything works as should with replacement drone.
There isn’t a Uk version
Makes sense, I should have emphasised the uk label on the box.
After yesterdays test flight along with my first thoughts in the first post & dji’s diagnosis, bearings / motor was the problem as I thought, will add a video soon to show how they should sound compared to the one above.
Problem solved.
That’s good news, nice result
My experience with DJI after sales so far has always been good; I had a GPS problem with my brand new Mavic 3 Classic and it refused to connect to more than 4 or 5 satellites, and it would take 10+ minutes to even get that far. Once I had contacted them and gone through the usual ‘were you in an open area free from sources of interference blah blah’ it was sent back to them for inspection. They supposedly did a software update which on receiving the drone back made little difference.
I threw my toys out of the pram and demanded a resolution or my money back. The drone was dispatched back to them and I received a brand new drone which to date, has been entirely fault free and a pleasure to fly. All that was FOC, and I didn’t need to dip into the Care Refresh package!
