Finally found a use for the vertical camera mode on the Mini 4 Pro

Nice!
Was this on Auto camera settings, apart from requesting the AEB?
Hi @Rob3rt, it looks as though you’re quite new here
Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself.
Thanks Rob3rt!!
Welcome to GADC!
Yes, the exposure was set to Auto.
I was paying more attention to the drone position in case it was affected by the geomagnetic activity.
Thankfully it wasn’t.
This is how the camera metered the 3 images:
EV | ISO | Seconds |
---|---|---|
0 | 3290 | 1/4 sec |
-0.7 | 2600 | 1/4 sec |
0.7 | 4150 | 1/3 sec |
Did you see the aurora yourself?
Yes, I was out with my DSLR. Didn’t think the drone would be capable of capturing the effects in low light, but it seems I was mistaken!
Interesting point about the interference from space weather; what were you thinking about?
I would guess GPS dropping off, and maybe bits flipping in the flight control system?
That’s a cracking capture! The clouds really give it depth.
The drone cameras really are something considering their size!
I just wish the sensors had built-in ND filtering.
Always want more
Positioning was the main concern in case it lost GPS and started to drift.
On Saturday, I noticed the controller position on the map wandering around a few metres even though it wasn’t physically moving.
I’ve never thought about cosmic rays before.
Suppose the drones must get hit from time to time and be affected.
Might explain some strange behaviours.
Yeah, haha. There are attachable ND filters for DJI drones I think, which I’ve been thinking about to help with smooth footage in bright conditions (can run the video with a shutter spped closer to double the framerate).
Yes I’ve been trying some ND filters on my Mini 4 Pro and they can help get some nice motion blur.
They’re not half fiddly though!
I wonder if the designer actually tried to fit or remove them with cold fingers on top of a windy hill while avoiding smudges.
As for picking them up off a flat surface…
