Hi All,
Was going to take my drone to the IOW next weekend and now I see there is a NOTAM with no end date which covers the whole Isle. I guess I should keep watching DroneScene to see when it ends, but the current one has no end date.
Also any recommendations on flights over there would be great.
I am quite nervous about disturbing the peace, so I don’t want to get fellow drone pilots in trouble. One thing that is really bothering me is the take off and land location but I am going to ask the land owner at the residence we are staying at of course.
Seems like more take off and landing rules are based on disturbance rather than direct law(of course restricted areas are treated quite differently I understand that)
Thanks!
Not relevant. and don’t forget the N in NOTAM is for notice (not a restriction)

Thanks, makes good sense! Will hopefully get some footage then, lets see how we go!
Well, had a great day today, flew for the first time in an uncontrolled environment and no Karens, in fact quite the opposite. Non fliers were very complimentary of my professional drone skills. So by the 5 people who spoke to me on IOW I’m declared a professional.
But seriously I think I am overthinking the potential for complaints.

First rule of drone club, ‘don’t be a dick’
If you follow rule 1 the rest is easy, explain and educate any curious bystanders and passers by, the shouty ones are never change and its pointless trying, they are best left to FaceBook

Talking of NOTAMS on the Isle of Wight. Whoever issued the one for the Cowes Week air display seriously needs to go to Specsavers. The timings were incorrect!
