NOTAMs and NATS confusion!

Good afternoon,

I feel like a bit of a plonker having to ask, but I’m a little confused about NOTAMs and NATS.

I live in the Scottish Highlands, Kinlochleven.

I’m probably overthinking it, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

On the NOTAM info map, it’s not showing any restrictions near me. However, on the NATS AIP it does, and I can’t see anything on the Drone Scene map.

I also noticed a large military aircraft flying low over Kinlochleven last night. I couldn’t find anything about that online, and it’s not in a restricted (red) zone either.

I’m probably being an absolute plonker, but just to be safe, should I contact the relevant control room or base?

Not being a plonker at all - remember there’s no such thing as a silly question. The NATS pages are aimed at people flying predominantly manned aircraft, rather than drones in the Open category.

There are some large areas of the Highlands which are military low-flying areas, and restrictions are activated by a NOTAM.

Drone Scene provides all the answers you need - go with the information there.
