Nothe Fort - Added to Castles and Fortifications in South West

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

TOAL was from the jetty in front of the fort, parking was from the fort's car park at 50p per hour. The fort is currently closed until half term.

Built by the Victorians to protect Portland Harbour, Nothe Fort is one of the best preserved Forts of its kind. The advances in technology that affected the Fort are explained through many displays, exhibits and audio visual facilities located on the ramparts, fun decks and maze of underground passageways. The Fort is filled with mammoth funs, displays and cinema areas that chart the history of the structure.

There is a gift shop with historical, educational books and toys, clothes, local produce and souvenirs. There is a calendar of spectacular events for all ages and the Fort View Cafe with hot and cold food as well as a great cream tea. There is cannon firing on alternate Sundays. Children aged 5 to 15 enter for only £2 and children under 5 go free. Dogs are welcome, providing they are kept on a lead at all times.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 30/01/2022. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

I want to fly here @clinkadink, but there are no parking or take off and landing markers. Would you be able to add some to the map please?

I’ve just added a new Take Off And Landing marker to this location @clinkadink :slightly_smiling_face:https://youtu.be/gwLRvpN0zKM?si=WELKHQqJaeEEkJve

I haven’t added a Parking Marker as we were down in Weymouth for the W/E and parked in the Hotel C/P. Three Flights to cover both The Fort and Weymouth Bay. Mini 3 Pro UAV. No issues apart from a few inquisitive seagulls who luckily didn’t take it any further.
I guess the general public are now quite familiar with Drones as my last several flights didn’t involve any distractions.

I’d love to see some photos of all these places you’ve flown @ChrisM

I will get around to it sometime. They weren’t all done this year ! It’s been a 5 year journey.
When I look through the latest postings list for new locations for me, I spot places listed and it’s a case of “Ive flown there”
This means I add locations, sometimes at either end of the UK, on the same day.
