Here is an update set up instead a hard drive I swapped it over for a ssd M2 memory stick which is 500gb For faster file transfer.
Which includes SSD m2 storage, a usb hub, which allows all connections via your mobile phone to allow file share to the SSD m2 storage. In the photo I’ve used the micro SD card from the drone so I can store and save after each day’s flying ,in case drone crashes and isnt recovered I will have a back up.
Very nice
I have a similar setup without the hub.
Ild be curious what transfer rates you get.
I know stock android doesnt give much info but how long does it take to transfer 1 dji file ‘block’ 3.78gb or whatever it is?
Well before this update I used just a laptop hard drive, and as I just upgrade the ram on my pc I just bought a SSD M2 usb case and put the SSD M2 into it file transfere has to be way better as it’s m2. The main benefits will be when I trans fere from the SSD M2 to my pc it should race throught it. I could be wrong mind lol
Repurposing upgrade leftovers.
I approve
One thing i noticed when fiddling with my setup is the vast different cabling makes. Even supposed high speed cables of the same spec take me from between 30-60ish mb to 600mb a second depending on the system using it.
Nice work. I had a go last year building a portable NAS for the same reason, I had a spare peli micro and raspberry pi4. Then just 15 quid for some weatherproof panel mount usbc sockets and 3d print an insert to hold it all in place.
Plan was a 1 button backup from SD to m.2 drive. Just have to plug a powerbank into one port and the micro sd reader into the other. I tried a few different software and couldnt really get it going how I wanted. I can connect to it with my phone and remote control it and if I connect it to wifi out and about it will back up to a server at home as it will mount itself on Unraid over VPN. But still not the one button solution I hoped for.
Hi John what make/model is the usb hub.?
Cheers John.
No probs any other gen you needing let me know
It looks like your building quite a capable preppers setup there
Yipe been flying for 10 yrs now lol taken my time
Admin not sure where to post this !!!
A wee test today solar panel was charging at 51w is in Scotland with lost of clouds. Also use a jackery 500 power station today. Panel max out put is 100w
Free electric i love it every time sun comes out so do my panels to
Some folk in other groups can’t get there heads round why we would buy/own a solar panel , they come out they have loads of batteries or don’t see the point of a power station , doesn’t need to be a sunny day as the battery it’s self will power all . I leave my jackery and solar panel hanging at the bedroom window and it tops up the power station and I recharge everything with batteries free of the power station. I know am Scottish but I am not tight but why pay for something that if you have the right kit you get it free.
I doubt you’ll ever get roi
But they are handy when out for the day in the car or camping
I go camping in Scotland flying my drone. And I wild camping . My plans this summer 2 weeks off grid with drones
