Useful table for ND filters when shooting video
So if I want to reduce the glare /reflections from water etc is polarizing filters the ones to use as opposed to ND filters?
Hi,
Basically yes
ND filters cut down light intensity but do not affect it, no colourcast etc.
Normally polarising filters restrict light coming in on a flat plane, so you can rotate them to kill reflections coming of water for example, those shots you’ve seen of boats ‘floating’ above the water used these filters,
You can now get circular polarising filters but I’ve not been able to work those out
they seem contradictory.

Thanks for everyones input. I am refering to video. Last time I did an ariel 360 even when the sun was behind the drone roof-tops & the tops of trees just became very glarey. Ian of Londons vids put me in the direction of filters of which I have no experience so looking to clear the fog.
Cheers Timmy, I need to gen-up as much as possible so these vids are invaluable.
Thanks for posting that video, Tim
Excellent explanation, clear and concise
Cheers

He’s got some other videos that are good too. Put the kettle on, make a nice cup of Yorkshire tea and have a shufti
