Orkney - Neolithic Showreel 4K

Hi All,
Just finished putting together a showreel for our recent Orkney trip, so much good footage I have kept this to the Pre-historic sites only, may do another couple with the WW2 and Landscape footage later.

Lovely montage of the neolithic sites of Orkney. Lovely flying and great choice of music

I’ve pinned a lot of these sites myself, so have a good clue of their names. Just an idea, it may aid others if you added placenames for each site … and perhaps even their age :man_shrugging:

Well done :+1:

Oooh, yeah, mebbe I should have added that! Lol, too late now… But will remember for the next one…

Thanks for the kind words

Thanks Martin, appreciate the comment, glad they are enjoyed as much as I enjoy making them…

Now will someone sort out this bloody weather, I am running out of footage to play with and need to get some flying in!

Yeah, It’s pissing me off too. Finally no rain for the last few days but too windy most of the time.

We have wind, 5 mins of bright sunshine followed by torrential downpour… Can’t even go and play in the woodworking workshop as we have to have the doors open to workin there and the rain comes straight in, we will be building a folding porch for it starting next weekend…

Fine, well composed footage.

Is that Clannad that I can hear in the background?

Thanks… Yes Croi Croga by Clannad, one of my favourites, it is available to use on YT, although blocked in Russia, and they retain copywrite, but its so apt I just had to use it…

You can guarantee that the more effort you put into creating a good video for YouTube - the less views it will get!
I did a video of an old showman’s caravan being transported home by lorry, and it got 23k views.
That video included an old farmer sat on his tractor watching the proceedings, so I made that little bit into another short video - so far that one has had 71k views!

Great video, sadly when I was on Orkney in April, I just manged to fly at Gurness, and the Ring of Brodgar, it was to windy at Skara Brae the day I was there, so a return trip will be needed

Thanks, I would have been gutted not to be able to fly, but as hubby always says, its a good excuse to come back… Still lots more on Orkney to see and to capture, we will return, although probably not for a few years yet…

Normally anything around 20mph does not particularly bother me, but it was gusting over 35mph that day, so took the side of caution, hope your trip up to Scotland goes well, I am off to Wales 2nd week of September, so hoping for decent weather

Wales is gorgeous too… We are’nt back in Scotland until mid October, so weather may not play ball, but we shall see, a week on Skye and 1 night n Lewis and thats our lot for this year… Have already booked a summer holiday to Skye though, for June next year, so fingers crossed if the weather doesnt play ball in October we shall be luckier on the return trip…

Yes, the weather was more against me than for me when I was there, also in April … really strong winds blowing through.

This is a lovely sequence for the June trip, bringing together the highlights and everything. I hadn’t realised that some artists allow their music to be used on YouTube - is it straightforward to find out what’s possible. I onced posted a small video for a select group with some music by Calexico and the ©-bot jumped on it within a day, I think.

I havent found a methodology for mainstream artists apart form uploading it and then if YT flag it I change it… Most of what I use is from sites with free music, such as Chosic, Free Music Archive and YT itself…

Skye is awesome, going back for a 4th time in April, and up to Ullapool before that in February

Will be my 4th time to Skye, and hubby’s 3rd - if I include the trip when I was 13 with my folks… First time with drone though, can’t wait… Just wondering if I can twist hubby’s arm about a larger second drone before we go…

I have an air 2 as well as a, mini 2, really like my air 2, feel way more comfortable flying that in a 20mph wind I use it for the areas where there are very few people, and the mini 2 for all my other flights

Yup, I have been pushing the limits with the MINI3 Pro, but the finances are the thing… We will get there, but another drone is somewhat lower down the priority list atm, but I shall see what I can do…
