I recently acquired (for nothing, long story, lucky me!) a Mini 3 Pro with a smart controller i.e. the one that has a screen.
I’m now thinking of picking up an Air 2S in Amazon’s sale. Question is, would I be able to use the same smart controller on the Air 2S or does that involve a complicated pairing process each time you switch from one drone to the other!
If by ‘smart controller’ you mean the RC then yes you can fly the Air 2s with it once paired 
Update the firmware if needed and once you’ve done that your good to go.
You do have to ‘swap firmware’ each time you swap drones but it literally only takes a minute, then pair the controller with the drone.

When you first switch on the RC, pick the drone from the initial flash screen, pair it and off you go!

First it’ll ask you to update firmware, then you pair them👍
