heh, as long as you use out the box props (non of these non standard cheaty ones you used with the FPV), then I’m cool with that
I tried with the Avata again the other week in 30/40mph winds, and was 2mph slower than my previous attempt. I must have gotten lucky the first time out
What’s the tweak? Chris Rosser FPV motors, betaflight FC, and standard HQProp style 5inch props?
you mean the “touch a blade of grass and shatter out of the box props” nah I’ll see how the MAS props work.
I’ve yet to get the avata in manual but definitely enjoying a slightly different flight experience vs the spud.
I’m still using the day one out the box props, not even used the spares that came with it… Don’t touch grass is my recommendation… I do have the MAS, though only used once or twice, didn’t get as fast tbh in similar conditions!
Well then I’d want that as a 2nd listing of the DJI FPV (i.e. non standard). I genuinely believe the speed records for off the shelf quads should be as “standard”. If want a Modified DJI FPV category that’s cool too.
It’s really cool with the motion controller. It’s a nice albeit slow quad. Watch the sharp yaws in wind though mate, if you do that, do it HIGH and get ready to jump on the “oh shit” button! You won’t struggle with flying that in manual at all (other than sharp fast yaws, which ain’t your fault… it’s DJIs!)

I don’t mind either way if i’m honest.
All of the speed records i’ve held were pretty much a product of just having fun flying and going as fast as I can. Jokes aside it’s not something I’ve invested huge amounts of time or money in its just an added bonus.
Thanks for the info on the avata. I have the original motion controller and have enjoyed flying - mostly low and fast tbh but avoiding fast turns so far.
Got a few plans this year to focus on both cinematic footage and get back on the bando smashing too.

Yeah mines the OG MC, which can’t do everything the newer one can. I just find the rebinding process a PITA when switching between everything lol, you were getting another remote weren’t you, or you can just use the FPV one!
Avoided bandos in 2023!! Maybe why I’ve got most of my stuff in tact, a meet over in chesterfield might be called for!!

It’s supposed to go no faster than 37mph which was some weird limit at the time the firmware was released 4 years ago or something.
Decent drone which was only let down by the camera, especially the jello.
I was surprised how much money they still go for on eBay!

Yeah they’re still worth the money though I’ve never had a drone I’d trust more because of how reliable everything is. Anytime I’ve had to use rth or lost connection with it or there are severe winds in the sky it always does it’s job and doesn’t complain

They’re robust and reliable but the lack of further development and support is one of the reasons I moved to DJI.
Did you get the sky controller with yours?
If not I’d 100% recommend one as they give you loads more options.
Yeah I’ve got the sky controller one and sky controller two they’re not really that different from eachother. I prefer the sky controller one though because it supports a tablet, laptop, or monitor meaning I can get a better view of different things whilst flying

I’ve had both in the past. The sky controller one was better and cooler where as the 2nd one more portable but less range.
I even had the fpv goggles which were terrible but also were a stepping stone In my journey to the fpv world.
Had both two. Looking back the bebop looked like it was from the 80’s but was pretty cool for its time when everything else looked like a phantom
I don’t know I quite like the fpv goggles their probably my go to headset aside from fpv headsets, I’ve used them for other things not just drones and they are reasonably comfortable for me but that depends on the rubber on them
