Hi Guys, I have recently been given an old Parrot Bebop 2.
I have a DJI Air 2S which is great but I thought if I get this going I will gladly pass it on to any total novice wishing to start with flying drones.

I have it all connected and flying in a nearby field and started recording for approx 15 minutes.
Back at base I connected to PC with usb cable, It was showing some data used but would not show any files? I have checked you tube without success. Have you any ideas what could be wrong?
I am using Free Flight Pro on an Apple I pad.

Hi Kev,

So if you are using the sky controller with the ipad plugged in, the best way is to use the ipad to download the files from the drone.

You can also plug in as you have done but I can’t recall doing that way back when I had mine.

However the following is from the manual which you can find [here] -

Retrieving photos and videos on your computer

· Windows :

  1. Connect the Parrot Bebop 2 to your computer with the USB/micro USB cable
    (supplied).
  2. Switch the Parrot Bebop 2 on.
    20 Flying

Your computer detects the Parrot Bebop 2 automatically. Wait until the driver
installation is complete. A pop-up appears like the one shown below.
The appearance, content and location of this message depends on your operating
system.
3.Open the file, as though it were a USB flash drive.
You can copy the photos and/or videos on your computer.(https://www.parrot.com/assets/s3fs-public/2021-09/bebop-2_user-guide_uk_2.pdf)

Hope that helps

Hi Howard78 thank you for the information and the user manual.
I think I may know why my folder shows no files. However I may have another problem.
When I have flown the drone and recorded at least 15 minutes of video, I land the drone, stop the recording and then press the power button at rear of drone. It takes at least 10 seconds of holding the button before the power light turns off.
Having now read the manual I came across a section on how to reset to factory settings. This explains that you need to press the power button for at least 10 seconds at which point all is reset including wiping the onboard memory!
I think I may have done this. This does make me wonder if the drone should power off with just a 2 or 3 second press? If so my problem may be related to the rear power button? Please advise if you can remember the exact shut down procedure without holding for 10 seconds or more.
Thanks for your help.

Page 6 of the manual says that just a single press of the button should turn it on or off. Have you tried just pressing once? It might take a couple of seconds after pressing for it to power down.

I really can’t recall as it’s been quite a few years since I sold my bebop and moved to DJI.

The manual does explain everything so probably best to read through that. The English is much better than the DJI manuals !

I found it much easier to download my footage once I’d landed and before powering off.

Hi Howard and Mynameisjoe.

Thank you both for you help.
I can now confirm after a short flight this morning that all appears to be working fine.
Original problem mine by holding the off button too long which actually re sets to factory settings and wipes any data from the hard drive. A short press is all that is needed to switch off and save any video and photos recorded.

Just a couple of final questions,
The app. for a Bebop 2 is freeflight pro. This I cannot find in Google Play store?
They have Freeflight 6 but this does not relate to the Bebop 2.
I do not have apple phones but I do have an IPad The app store does still have the Freeflight Pro which I am using, the only problem is its size and weight along with the Sky Control unit.
Does anyone know where to get a copy of the app. to suit android phones?

Finally when connecting the drone to the controller and to you phone or tablet WiFi - Bebop2
is there a logical connection procedure? I seem to have tried all versions without success and then suddenly it all connects?

I’m not sure if I can upload the video footage taken this morning to hear or If I have to send it to You Tube and then upload the link? I will try and sort it out later.

Thanks for all your help.

… yes - you’ll need to go via YouTube as GADC no longer accepts direct video upload.
Copy the URL at the top of the YT page and then paste it into a separate new line and that should give you a nice little preview too :+1:

Thank you jhdee, I assumed as much.

Well it looks like its done the trick. see the video.

Thank you all for so much help.

that looks very much like Ponte race course. Not flown there but looks decent.

Keep a look out for the meet ups as we’ve got quite a few active members that like to meet up around yorkshire and humberside.

You may also find this link to be of use in the future Parrot Bebop drone downloads | Parrot Support Center

Glad you are up and flying - the range on the bebop with a flight controller is pretty impressive for what is almost 10 year old tech

Hi Howard, Yes you are correct, it is Pontefract race course and public park. Its not quite on the same scale as Doncaster but for a small town its not bad!
If you look it up on Drone scene you will notice a temporary navigation warning between Oct 31st and Jan 28th? but we also have Pontefract Aero Modellers club PANDAS in the same zone nearer the M62 motorway. PANDAS do organise meet ups and have flying displays usually in the summer over a weekend with camping and caravans for long distant visitors, It’s mostly planes but occasionally with drones. I would be very interested in joining any local meet ups do you know of any in the near future?

I went to a pandas meet when I first got a drone , got told in no uncertain terms drones not welcome

Was a long time ago, and ponte is very close to me.

Join the group @group-yorkshumber for news on meets in our area , and the meets category in general.

Quite a few of us get out most weekends when the weather is better

Hi Milkmanchris, I probably agree with you, they are very focused on planes however at their last summer meeting they had a bespoke Drones tent with local police drone officers flying and other drone users offering advice etc.
They didn’t convince me to join them!

I thought it was. Never flown there but fished that lake years ago.

Lots of open space so probably a decent place to fly.

We’ve flown Donny loads.
It’s decent but can get busy when the weather is nice.

Yes, the next time we fly locally will be sure to post up a meet.
