A pleasant walk to Peel Tower to admire the views.
Peel Tower, or Holcombe Tower as it is often referred to locally, is a well known landmark standing high above Bury. It was erected shortly after the death of the Bury born Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel.
Peel is best known for his creation of the London police force in 1829. Ten years later, his police force model was rolled out to the rest of the country.
He is also remembered for his abolishment of the much-hated Corn Laws which imposed tariffs on grain imported from abroad.
The tower stands at 128 feet and the stone to construct it was quarried from the top of the hill, right next to the tower. Visitors today can still see the hole left behind.
The views from the top of the hill are spectacular on a clear day.

Thanks Greyseal2021, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Colin. Did you have someone with you doing the 3rd person shots or did you have to strategically set everything up as you went along?
I wish I had the instinct creativity to think at the times of doing things like opening gates and puddles and what not it really adds to the scene.
Thanks Ensignvorik, glad you like it. It was a solo shoot using a camera tripod to capture the 3rd person shots. Time consuming as you have to set up the shot then film yourself then go back for your camera and repeat for each shot.
In total i think i filmed 24 different shots as i made my way up to the tower. For this version i condensed it right down and figured it was enough to convey the sense of a journey to the tower. Its better to shoot more than what you might need than find you haven
t got enough footage when you come to edit it.
Making a shot list before the day of filming will help with the creative story telling. Plus using Google maps to scope out the area for any interesting features.
