Photoguard Insurance

Anyone had to make a drone claim with them and if so what were they like?

Don’t know if this entirely relevant but I recently claimed for my ,lost at sea, drone on my house insurance with no issues.

I don’t have mine on my parents house insurance

I’m sure they could claim on your behalf :grinning:

What happened to your drone @alexmciver ?

Apologies for some reason I thought you asked me

We didn’t … but now we are all agog to know!

Fell on to it

It doesn’t look that bad, a bit of glue should fix that.

Yeah I thought that but what about the sensors that are in the legs?

Are they sensors? I thought they were just LEDs? Either way it’s not going to hurt to glue it back up and see what happens. The wires looked intact from what I can see. Actually AFAIK you can buy whole replacement arms and I don’t think they’re that expensive. Probably less than buying an insurance policy plus excess.

Is that the only damage Alex?

If so, I’m with @makkax1 and would be reaching for the Araldite epoxy resin to fix that :+1:t2:

There are no sensors in the front legs, just antennas and the LED.

Won’t antennas then affect range?

Only if damaged - but as @makkax1 said the cables look ok?

You can test it by flying out some distance?

If connection drops it’ll RTH.

(don’t forget to confirm that action on signal loss before testing)

If you’d snapped it half way down you might have damaged antenna but it’s fairly flexible at the point it broke.

Is the leg completely broken or just at the front? Can you see if the wiring is intact?

Personally I’d glue it up for now and order some replacment legs from China for around a tenner.

Compared to £44 from Replacebase :grimacing:

You can replace just the leg.

It’s held on by a few screws and the antenna just slots in.

Not sure how the led is held in though.

Hmm ok I’ll see what photoguard say on Monday

What’s your excess on photoguard policy?

Edit - Just googled it.

£250 excess if the claim includes a drone.

I wouldn’t bother.

You’d be better getting a few prices to get it fixed if that’s the route you want to go down.
