Hope it’s ok to run this question on the back of this thread, ok, so last night / yesterday I stumbled across this new hdr within photoshop, I found a really good easy explanatory video on YT explains how to use it, which I think is the same as the one above in this thread, so all the settings I’ve repeated over & over, so there’s no problem there, I’ve had a go in 32 bit, converted it then to 16 bit or 8 if you like, so far no problems, plenty too learn, however what I’m kindly asking which is probably the click of a button which I can’t find in real time or a method on the net, so this picture I’m posting below which is not mine, it’s just for ref
So when I’ve done some editing in the first window & come to this second window, I clicked on the crop tool ok, well, no matter how hard I tried or looked I could not deselect that tool & get my Arrow back, as frustrating as it was, I did see the funny side of it when I had too uninstall photoshop & restart too get rid of it , but, not something I’d like to have to keep doing, it’s probably the simple click of a button somewhere but for love or Money I could not find it, it got to the stage where that page was running rings round me, at one point I also deleted a selection of tools within & could not get them back, so does anyone kindly have the answer ? Undoing tasks is no problem but as said I could not get rid of the tool I selected, thanks for reading if you’ve made it this far ……
After selecting your crop, you need to apply your crop. I normally do this by hitting Enter on the keyboard, although there is a “Tick” icon on the top middle ribbon which does the same. Not sure if you’ve done this bit.
Thanks for that Chris, I got carried away & clicked everything as it was doing my head in lol.
Which that I done
Ah yes I was hitting command z, so it’s command d, or as per your picture, many thanks for that mate, lastly which I was meant to put in the post.
So when you have changed all the settings to give you the use to use the hdr option, is there a quicker way to reset back to photoshop default ? Rather than having to backtrack on everything you clicked or un clicked would you or anyone happen to know, reason I ask this or correct me if I’m wrong, maybe not all edits need too be done in hdr, many thanks ……
The HDR option is only in the latest version of PS, which I don’t have. But since it is part of the Camera Raw Filter, once you apply the HDR feature (and make any other changes), you just need to click “OK” in the bottom right corner to exit Camera Raw Filter and return to the default PS screen. You don’t need to reset anything.
Ah ok, I’m sure I heard read somewhere in the tutorial video, when your using hdr, I’m sure he said your not using camera raw, or not opening your photo in camera raw, so would this still apply would you know, or sorry if I have read this wrong.
Sorry to sound stupid, would you know what part of the bottom right corner am I clicking, on a specific icon or anywhere, thanks for the input.
Yes I’ve done open a few times & it takes you too the other panel / screen,
I’ve also clicked out of it or finished edit for better word, sorry if I have miss worded, what I meant was, was when you have done all those tasks you have shown me, which I have ok, so I know all the above,
Say next time I go to use PS but I don’t want to use all the settings I have changed to use hdr, I was asking is there a quick way to use photo shop again, without having to change all the settings individually, back to normal default, I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for that mate, I’ll screen shot that,
Without me rambling on in a big long discussion, can I ask you @thewhoosh, as I see above your using or used this hdr, what are your thinkings of it so far over the sdr, do you think it’s a good step in the right direction, I did notice when using this feature it seems very powerful to the point that even dropping the image / merged images in the editor they’re clearer straight away, I found it more responsive / faster than the basic & almost like, you haven’t got to mess around with the picture as much, I suppose in a nutshell I found it more user friendly easier to control & i’m no expert, I only started using PS about 4 weeks ago, so I have much too learn but having tried both I think this might be a good go too which I guess only time will tell.
At the moment I am using it for seeing what is out of gamut and creating luminosity masks to fine tune my edits. Check oy Greg Benz on YT. This new feature will improve as it gets mor developed.
Thanks for that, as said it’s all new too me but I’ll watch & do my best to pick up as I go along, just to add the YT vid at the top of this thread, I do find his tutorials very explanatory, easy to stop pause / start as you go along
