Hello, we are new here, and finding it extremely difficult to just roll up someplace nice and fly our drone.
My son is quite keen and rather than discourage him from getting outside, i want to push him a little.
With that in mind, he’s completed the flyer id and passed, we are saving and soon to buy a drone with gps capability, but in the mean time we wanted to fly our non camera drone we currently have.
Dorchester has the Airboss-UK reatriction so we cant fly near it even though there are nice wide clear open spaces.
Thanks in advance and hope some of you have places we can just fly at without to much hassle, other than submitting the flight and all that.
Using AirMap App shows this restriction covering a stupendously large area. Stating no drones should be flown in an AirBoss-UK restricted zone, i cant find any information on this so im not sure if its irrelevent information ir something new.
There is at least one supposedly official website that declares vast tracts of the UK closed to drones. You too can create a no-fly zone on their map if you feel that drones should not be flown over your land.
These restrictions are totally spurious!
Drone Scene presents various datasets sourced from reliable, tried and official sites. It is updated in real time. Drone Scene also has flying sites shown and regularly added too, these are sites that have been flown by GADC members who add their comments with regards to access, parking and any special conditions.
There’s no restrictions over Dorchester as far as I can see on Drone Assist as well so as @macspite said probably spurious.
One other thing and I’m more than happy to stand corrected, the OP mentioned that it’s a non camera/non gps drone, so I assume it probably weighs less than 250g so wouldn’t it fall into the A1 subcategory (i.e a toy) therefore most normal restrictions are a moot point no?
