POI & Spotlight: Do people know these incredible functions exist?

I’m amazed at how many people tell me they didn’t even know of these two functions when I talk about them. So here’s a quick refresher / tutorial for those that don’t know how brilliant these two simple functions are. And a leisurely sunrise flight around Glastonbury… :slight_smile:

@ianinlondon I did know about POI & Spotlight and have used them. I find Spotlight is really useful. One I didn’t know about though is “Roll and Fly Forwards” in Mastershots. Only works FVP mode. I found out about it courtesy of Nobbygreens video on You Tube dji mini 3 pro hidden feature. I haven’t tried it out yet, have you?

I pretty much use POI/Spotlight for all my videos now where possible. Ensuring the point turns to a pin type thing. Makes it incredibly easy to get decent smooth footage.

Ditto :+1:. You can get some quite amazing smooth dynamic footage.

I’ll do a few random spotlight shots for which ever project I’m doing, then in post take out the best looking parts and slot them into my vid somewhere.

You can take footage using spotlight mode which would be nigh on impossible trying with the sticks.

It’s funny, I’ve known about them for years, but years ago, i was filming a castle, so POI wouldn’t work as i needed a more oval flight path, so did it manually, i then did a boat, same again. Since then i practiced manual POI, so now fly all mine manual, then finnish and think to myself
“Steve you dickhead! You could have used POI for that”

In truth, I have got so used to flying manually, I have often forgot to use these features too! But it’s so useful and easy, we need to remember to make more use of it… :slight_smile:

I use a lot of POI on my Mavic Air 2s and the Mavic Mini 3 Pro … but on my mini when I set up and go … it take a long time initially to start. ? Just wonder if am doing something wrong . No trouble on the Mavic Air 2s that start orbiting straight away …. . . .

On mine it starts immediately. Is it struggling to lock on the subject maybe? Try yourself standing in an open field…

Thanks! I’ve just got my Mini 3 Pro, and was wondering where those options were. I was looking for a menu item. I didn’t realise you had to drag the box first to get the menus!
