Flight under Pont Fawr (Inigo Jones Bridge) Llanrwst. Was a bit scary with a Mavic Mini
Would look better as a proper video posted to YouTube and shared
Brings back some memories I use to drive my wagon and drag with straw over this bridge.
Bigger balls than me mate! I would love to fly under any bridge but am convinced the drone will lose satellites and go into RTH mode and ascend to 40 odd metres and kiss the bridge underside. Aaarrrrrrrrrrrgh
RTH can be turned off.
@OzoneVibe What, like temporarily to pass under then turn back on?
I’d not faff turning off/on in a flight.
If I’m doing that kind of flying, turn off for the flight.
I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I’ve needed RTH, and to fly under a bridge I’m going to be close enough to know exactly where it is, so no chance of really needing.
Makes sense…On my next fright.
Nice shot. This is a beautiful location in autumn, with the cafe on the opposite bank (covered in Virginia creeper) a vivid crimson.
How quick would a drone such as a 3 pro react to temporary interruption to GPS?.
Will their be an interruption? The number of satellites available to the newer drones versus the minimum needed would make me expect to keep enough for GPS mode under a bridge that narrow. (It IS narrow, that one!)
At a sensible speed even passing under a wider bridge shouldn’t be a big issue.
Lingering under a wider bridge will probably put you into ATTI mode - but with careful flying this shouldn’t be an issue more than flying indoors … which (I’m told) the Mini3 Pro does quite well.
Just being prepared is key.
