Poor quality on Mini Pro 4 video and photo

You can test the card speeds with something like blackmagic disk speed test:

If you’re on Windows it’s part of desktop video.

Looking at the files on the phone here, I can’t see any tearing. With h265 it can be a codec playback issue.

I think if you have M Log set on the Mini 4 Pro it’s locked to h265. If you want the most range/ quality in post use M Log, otherwise you can leave it off.

Great information guys thanks.

I think we can assume that H265 (M log) is the default setting out of the box. As for fake card, I bought it on eBay, if it is a knock-off it’s a very good knock off, certainly the packaging looks legitimate. I will test it though.

I have viewed my videos on a chromebook and a new’ish android, and I still get the same problem. So, I’ll try H264 and report back.

Thanks again

So, where is the best place to buy legitimate cards? How about Argos? I can’t imagine them trying to pull a fast one.

From SanDisk on Amazon. Unfortunately, Argos doesn’t sell them.

Is a cheaper one 128 GB sold & fulfilled by Amazon good discount.

Clicked on the link & it takes you to a different seller

SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO microSDXC card + SD adapter + RescuePro Deluxe, up to 200 MB/s, with A2 App Performance, for smartphones, action cameras or drones UHS-I Class 10 U3 V30 https://amzn.eu/d/0iD7ieF

@JerryDrone did you format the card in the drone?

With my new Mini 4 Pro it’s been jello appearing during transition to and from yaw.

I normally preview the H265/264 footage straight off the SD card which I can only do on the PC and it stutters.

I find that since I play back on my TV which detects the fps of whatever video am playing i.e it automatically changes it’s refreshing rate between 50Hz / 60Hz, I shoot at 25/50 fps for the smoothest playback after rendering.

One question, have you had jello in your video?

Nope. It’s from the SanDisk store.

Yes but when I find it in the app it’s showing as said above, then you copy the link & when you click on it it takes you else where, strange

Edit : yes says Sandisk store at top, I was going by the trusty sold & fulfilled by Amazon, if that makes sense.

This site goes into considerable depth when trying to determine whether a card is fake (or not) - How to spot a fake Sandisk card | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community

Incidentally, I’ve bought some Sandisk High Endurance cards as an alternative to the Extreme Pro: I’ll report back later.

My Mini 4 Pro default was Normal and H265. I have used both Normal and D-log M at 4K:30fps and both were good ( i used colour assist on the Dlog). I left it on H265.

I’m switching to Davinci Resolve for editing and have been learning how create and save a LUT to use as a derault for the washed up looking D-Log M.

All work great with my £22 Sandisk 256gb Extreme Pro from Amazon. I do have a 12th Gen Laptop.

Hello All

I have an update for you. I received a 64gb Sandisk from Amazon following the link above, I had to wait a day or so because of time and weather etc. I’m happy to report that you were correct, the video quality is great on the new card. When I swapped back to the previous card, it was rubbish again.

I experimented a little with H265 and H264 on the new and old card and the results on both were really good but only on the new card.

I have had a grumble at the eBay seller but he predictably claims that all of his cards are genuine. I am running a test now using H2TestW which is supposed to prove it legitimacy, the test is going to take hours.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that a few hours after my tests I received a follow up call from DJI’s customer services department. I told him how impressed I am with the product the politeness of the agents and the prompt delivery of the replacement drone, but how in the end I solved the problem with the help of this online community. I told him that surprised that the helpdesk didn’t go down the quality of the card route first, remember I provided them with sample videos. He replied that he agreed with me and could only apologise and by way of compensation they are sending me a free 256gb Samsung SD card. How’s that for customer service?

Thanks again for your help everyone
