An early start for this one to miss the crowds. It gets very busy here most of the year round. Plenty of parking in the P&D car park.
Nice cafe for a drink/eat. Can get very windy here so check weather forecast as it is very exposed.
If you’re not too far away, it’s well worth a trip down here.
I edited your post to create the embedded player.
For this the YT URL (not link) should be used.

Oh brilliant, thank you for doing that, appreciate it. I wondered what I was doing wrong
Just a heads up for anyone thinking of flying in/on Portland. There is now a large RFZ for most of the island apart from approx Southwell out to the Bill. people have been (quite legally) flying over the Bibby Stockholm, this is now not allowed.
Also, all of the breakwater is included in the RFZ, as is the Sandsfoot area of Weymouth including Sandsfoot Castle.
Link ?
I’m sure permission could be granted if requested , have you tried ?
The area in your video falls outside the FRZ by the looks of it
Contact details in drone scene
Not very clear at the moment, it’s a bit obscure with the info.
Yes, you can still fly at the ass end of the island.
No, I haven’t enquired, they’ve done similar with sailing/ launching in the harbour and charge. Perhaps it’ll be the same with drones, but suspect it may have something to do with the helicopter training/refuelling they have around there.
I posted mainly to let people know if they had ideas of coming down here to drone the Bibby Stockholm. It wasn’t in a no fly zone, but it is now.
