Portland is only a short hop across the causeway for me, so I took the opportunity to capture the state of the cliffs following some recent slides.
Have to be careful here not to venture too close to the prison airspace. You can park free at the end of Tradecroft on the small industrial estate, then a short walk out to the edge through the sculpture park.
We spend lots of time on the island- great seeing the western side from another viewpoint… My girlfriend’s uncle still has a beach hut there (though they’ve had to move it a few times over the years as you can imagine!)
We spent some time by the prison (opposite the zoo with the wallabies) looking around the old batteries recently- gutted I couldn’t get some drone shots but too close to the prison and don’t want them to think I’m dropping off anything to Mr Glitter !
Hi bud, thanks for posting.
Those huts have taken a battering at times with those boulders! That place with the wallabies is Fancy’s Farm, and as you say it’s right next to it. I’m sure Mr Glitter would’ve appreciated a drop off or two.
That place is purely for sex offenders now. He actually got out, but got caught with child pornography on his phone so back he went, and rightly so.
Having been in there with the job, it’s not exactly hard labour in there, more like a holiday camp. And they wonder why it’s not a deterrent.
Ha ha we actually had lunch at the Jailhouse Cafe when we were there last- within the prison grounds and some great views!
And yes- they let me out after !!!
Great video, I was there two weeks ago filming at Portland Bill Lighthouse. What are the odd’s of filming while the cliff falls?
They do some great food in there, and on a clear day the view across towards Bournemouth is amazing.
Well, the way that lot fall as regularly as they do, I’d say a good chance. It normally makes Facebook when someone notices that a crack is opening up, so I’ll keep my eyes posted and try and get over there.
You never know, you just might catch it
