Ok guys, sit rep…currently it is raining but only lightly compared to yesterday. However, a bigger problem is the wind…it is very gusty and could definitely pose a problem for the sub 250g fliers.
I’ll report back around midday when I will make a final decision. At this present time though I don’t hold out much hope for today with tomorrow looking more promising.

Here, near Southampton airport, it’s rather nice..
Train radar looks promising.
I’ll probably head down anyway. I need to do a test flight .. and I live in an FRZ.
I’ll be there around 12:00 ISH.

If you havent been there before look up
Farlington marshes car park on googlemaps.
Weirdly, the wind can be less there and its rather pretty if the tide is right.
Edit:
There are 2 carparks. A small one at the entrance, off the roundabout and a bigger one down the single lane that runs parallel to the the dual carriageway
Ok guys…the bloody sun has come out at last! It’s still a bit windy but I’m giving the batteries a top up and plan to be at the TOAL for around midday…let’s do this

How long are you planning on being there?
Until my batteries die or it starts raining…whichever comes first!

Probably a couple of hours and a coffee.

Just heading out to the TOAL now.
Just arrived.
In southern of two car parks .. about as close to the TOAL you marked as is possible.
Ill head in that general direction. I was planning to find somewhere nice to sit and polish my tools anyways.
Mrs Oogle tells me its 90 mins or there abouts so i doubt ill get close in time.
A tad breezy but totally flyable.
Thankyee topscooby for putting it together.

Ha!
Went to check on the cafe, only to discover two things ..
- no dogs allowed, and
- after having paid for +4 hours .. a notice declaring “Parking charges suspended this weekend.” Wish I’d gone in to pay at the office, now.

Had a great afternoon flying my Air 3 along with Dave @OzoneVibe and Nik @Nik469
The wind was very strong with some gusts that could have easily proved disastrous for any sub 250g drones ( Mini 3 or 4 Pro for example). Luckily for us both my Air 3 and Dave’s two Mavic Pro’s took it in their stride…and then Nik turned up with his Matrice T30 and proceeded to fly with the gusting wind having no effect whatsoever on it!
After thinking the day was going to have to be postponed because of the weather it turned out to be a great afternoon with likeminded people and plans already being discussed about doing it again soon.
Can I take the opportunity to thank Dave (with Sophie the Red Setter) and Nik for providing great company at the meet up. And a special thanks to Nik for allowing me to fly his awesome Matrice after only knowing me for a few minutes
Here’s a few snaps taken with my phone with some drone footage to follow soon…

We can also confirm that load-hailer on Nicks drone is bloody loud … and also entertained onlookers.
Looks like a great afternoon out. Unfortunately I was in Southampton when you were all in Portsmouth. Managed to get down to the seafront to get a flight in but that wasn’t until after 5pm!
