Does anyone know if it’s possible to stop and restart the motors on a DJI Mini 3 Pro in mid-flight? Stopping using the usual stick combination:
I’ve never had to do this but I’m curious to know what would happen in a hypothetical scenario if this occurred. I don’t really want to try this myself for obvious reasons; maybe a question for DJI?
It certainly was possibly on the Mavic Pro, and some other models. Specifically the Mini 3 Pro, not certain, by why would they change things.
One way to find out …

This has also been used, by some people in some places in the world, to set altitude records … by gaining height until the batteries are really low, killing the motors and free-falling (saving battery), until at a height where motors can be re-started just in time to stabilise and land.
Not sure where that image came from, but yes you can stop the motors mid-flight

IIRC I saw someone do this with a MINI3 Po on YT, and he managed to restart with no issues… Only once tried it myself, after a 400ft collision with a skyscraper, and tried to restart the motors several times as Mighty Midge fell 393ft to the floor - didn’t work as the impact had folded in one arm, but it landed in one piece, and did fly again when I got home, but with a damaged gimbal it was time to care refresh…

Thanks! Yes, page 63 of the manual gives the info. I still don’t want to try it though

There’s a video on YT of some lad in America flying a Mavic 3. He took it up to its maximum height ( far above the FAA’s height limit) Stopped the motors and managed to restart them before it hit the ground. Must have been an almost windless day though.
