Hi @Gunner221, it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:

I’ve got the Potensic Atom as my first drone and have been very pleased with it. It appears to have many of the features of higher priced drones. Two things I would note It DOESN’T have is 1- object avoidance, I’ve not had an issue with this as I try to fly safe anyway, and 2- it only has a 2 times zoom rather than variable zoom, but again this has been fine for me. I think this is a great starter drone and if you go for the bundle deal ( 3 batteries, multi charger, carry bag and spare propellers) it’s great value for money. Crystal clear and very stable optics even when the drone is weaving in the wind leading to great photos and video. Absolutely no issues with quality/ operation etc. yes I would recommend it

Hi,

Great drone, easy to use, great picture quality on videos and stills.

I bought the Flymore pack plus some addditional batteries.

Well worth the money.

The Potensic Atom (with gimbal) was my 1st drone and the fly more bundle is very good value for money and is on offer on Amazon for £319 quite a lot.

My pros and cons of the Atom compared to the DJI equivalent (mini 4K)

Pros
Very good value for money (fly more bundle)
Charging hub charges all 3 batteries and controller at the same time
Way points and follow me (although basic)

Cons
No ā€˜spare parts’ or repair service (not an issue if you don’t crash!)
Video transmission isn’t as good as DJI

I too have this drone and agree with all the comments. I had an issue with the camera z axis wheel on the remote. I had to take it apart and re-seat the spring (previously it was sticking) now works fine.

It is a good starting drone, build quality is good, however in hindsight, and personally speaking I would have been better off spending a bit more for a DJI

The video signal does drop quite often for me and I’ve since discovered that they are prone and are very sensitive to electromagnetic interference. I believe the DJI’s are a bit more resilient.

If you can increase your budget a DJI will be a better investment and hold it’s value for longer, if that’s important to you.

Videos are pretty good, you have to take the SD card out and copy it to a PC to get full 4k quality, using the phone transfer is only 720.

Also, something that might not be obvious, there is a SE version of this drone which is cheaper and doesn’t have the gimbal, so don’t be tempted by that model unless cost is a consideration.

Potensic support is pretty good. They do respond in a reasonable amount of time.

Price wise, Amazon Prime days are a good time to invest however if you shop around you might be able to get better deals elsewhere. Oftentimes the Potensic website have their own deals. The flymore bundles can be good value, however the provided bag is overpriced and diminishes the perceived value a tad. I bought a good quality cool bag on eBay for £2.50 which fits perfectly  you can reuse the foam packaging that it comes with; in the cool bag lol

It’s very easy to fly, excellent stability and picks up GPS pretty fast.

In conclusion:

If price is a factor, fill your boots and get one, or if you wait a while longer and can save up a bit more go for a DJI - I wish I did

Good luck with whatever you go for

Well all I bit the bullet and opted for the DJI mini pro 4 it’s the obstacle avoidance and video quality that swayed me thanks for all your comments. It arrived today so looking for some dry days coming up :grinning:

I’ve had the Potensic Atom for around 2 months now as my first ā€œseriousā€ drone. Bought it for the good reviews and slightly more features than the DJI Mini 4k (although it does seem to be a relative newcomer to the market).

I have to say I’ve not been disappointed at all. I bought the flymore bundle which I think is awesome, and got the lot for Ā£320 off Amazon. Very easy to fly although when I started it was only use one control at a time, although I’ve since fond using both controllers and changing the angle on the camera gives far better results. Yes the signal drops momentarily every once in a while but it’s not been a problem. The furthest distance I’ve had it away from me is 1700 feet, but still had 3 out of 4 bars on the signal strength.

All in all I very chuffed with this drone, and would highly recommend them.
