Propeller Guards

Hi
Just wanted people’s views on propeller guards and whether they are a worthwhile investment.
I have now been out for my first couple of flights which went well with no issues, most areas near me are heavily wooded hence why I was looking at the guards to protect the props.

Thank you

For any particular drone?

My take would be indoors yes, outdoors no.

Guards don’t stop twigs catching the props, they’re not substantial so flying at the speeds possible outdoor would also render them nearly useless. Best used at low speed indoors so you don’t damage the drone hitting a wall, door, etc.

I had them with my original mini as they came in the fly more pack , I did try them but only a couple of times and didn’t find them helpful and they give a false sense of security so I agree with the others indoor yes but outdoor no

Mavic air 2 and for outdoors in wooded areas

You will have a greater chance of getting your Air 2 stuck in a tree when using the prop-guards.

Prop guards for indoors, only use them outdoors if you want your drone to dissappear into the sunset on the slightest gust of wind. Propguards turn drones into sail boats.

Cheers guys I could ask Google or check reviews etc but I find a question asked on here gets quick accurate and sensible answers (most the time ) from like-minded people :+1:
Thank you

A full drone cage on a Ryze Tello used indoors allows you to pinball it off walls… which is its own sort of fun. :smiley_cat:

Wouldn’t use cage or prop guards outside tho, more weight and yes acts like a sail
