Trying out my new DJI Osmo action 4 camera whilst undertaking trials on a Pacific 24 at work today.
It’s a tough old job especially when the weather is so good! LOL
Wow what a great picture. Impressed
“Did you notice a a slight hesistation in starboard turns?”
“Er, no skipper.”
"Oh I think you did. We need to go out again for another test … "
The next trials will be with different crew as this one felt dizzy trying to write down engine RPM, oil pressure etc at 39.7 knots! and his hand writing at that speed was awful LOL
We do have an office staff member retiring in a few weeks and he asked if he could go out on the next trials with me…I’m so looking forward to filming that trip especially if the tide and weather is not in our favour.
Is that not on chip in todays day and age ?
It’s 2024, I’d hope it was on some kind of double redundancy type chip too.
That was a Mk3 and has limited information via a laptop unlike the Mk4’s that everything engine related can be download.
Either way the MOD insists on a paper copy for the boats log with a lot more non engine information included. Armed with a pen, notebook, stop watch and a good GPS we manage to record what is needed.
The bad hand writing comment is a standard joke along with ‘have you put the hand brake on?’ when mooring up along side our quay.
Boats, water and paper.
What could possibly go wrong
Water and electronics aren’t the best of bed pals either.
A water proof note pad and pen works well during the trial then entered onto a laptop when back at base.
Been out today for most of the afternoon in drizzle/rain and I’m still drying things out.
Strange there’s always a shortage of willing helpers when ever it’s cold and wet! LOL
