Raven's Rock Gorge - Added to Forests and Trees in Sutherland South, Scotland

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

A beautiful forest of birch and fir, a babbling brook and a trail that leads to a picnic spot with a bear sculpture and 'Ent' trees standing sentinel… A quiet place that feels more wild than it is…

There used to be a circular walk of about 1 1/2 miles, but a landslip has meant it is now 2 shorter out and back walks, and the storms a few years ago have brought down several trees, giving it a very wild feel… Of the 2 walks, the lower one descends to the burn on a steep path, then follows it to the bear sculpture, the upper path takes you a viewpoint over the site.

Ideal for an AVATA flight, flying between the trees and low over the burn…

The one local we saw did warn us of the midges, they can be fierce here from June to September, so plenty of midge spray, and I would advise decent boots too..

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 29/04/2025. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location. Landowner permission may be required before taking off.
