Recording time flown(acurately) /pilot logbook

I’m just about to start the A2 C of C course and so I decided to create a logbook to create a record. I used excel so it could automatically sum up the totals.
I entered all the dates/times that were shown on my DJI/RC but surprisingly whilst the DJI/RC shows my total time is 19.3 hrs my spreadsheet adds it up to 20 hrs.27minutes. I have rechecked the numbers and rechecked them again and even got a calculator out and the excel figures are correct. The total number of flights are the same as are the times. At first I thought that it may only record actual flying time, but when I checked the record for time the motors were running but the drone was on the ground, that amounted to far less than the discrepancy in totals.
I’m not too worried about it, but just interested to know if I was missing something and then if necessary I could adjust the formula in excel.
Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil

I would suggest using AirData to collate that information, it’s free to use (unless you wish to upgrade).

This web based software syncs with the DJI flight data in the DJI Fly app, then presents you with loads on information in a reasonably simple format.

Some of the members on this forum, are a real wiz with AirData.

I’m sure Wayne @SparkyFPV will be able to advise further

I don’t think you can export to csv in the free version. I need to submit my flight logs for my A2 CofC and I’m too lazy to type them all into a spreadsheet.

Thanks Binman, Airdata seems like a good option. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I just need to get a bit of free time now, busy helping to look after the grandchildren for the next few days.

@nje don’t forget that as a Silver member of Grey Arrows Drone Club you’re eligible for a hefty discount on any Airdata subscriptions

Details can be found on the member-discount tag.

PingSpike- Thanks

I did something similar in prep for the GVC which requires logs etc.

Like you, I started in excel but pretty quickly moved over to google sheets which i already used extensively for work. I found it a tad easier to input data across multiple devices.

As mentioned here, Airdata is a very nice tool to play with. Manual migration of data from my mini 4 is a bit of a faff but worth it for the stats it correlates for you.

The very nice club discount is also a shiney bonus
