Stretching along the North Yorkshire coastline, Redcar Beach is one of the most recognisable seaside landscapes on the Teesside coast. The wide sandy beach sits alongside Redcar’s historic seafront, looking out across the North Sea.
Redcar became a popular seaside resort during the Victorian era, helped by the arrival of the railway in the 19th century, which made the town much easier for visitors to reach. The beach has since remained an important part of the town’s identity, attracting visitors for generations.
One of the most distinctive features of the coastline is Redcar Pier, which opened in 1873 and once extended far out into the North Sea. Although the pier was eventually lost to storms and fire, parts of its original structure can still be seen from the beach.
Today, Redcar Beach remains a popular destination for walking, relaxing and enjoying the coastline, while also providing views towards landmarks such as Redcar Beacon and the surrounding Teesside coastline.
