Fortunate to learn of an evening exercise, yet missing the launch, I was very ready to see the lifeboat return. Video editing a new venture but inspired by people like Susanne and AlbionDrones giving it a go. Edited using Adobe Premiere. Hope like it

Hitting a stony beach like that canât be good for the bottom of the hull !
They are SO built with that in mind.
Could use one as an ice breaker ⌠if global warming doesnât make that unlikely.
Oh I know that, but stillâŚ
Even the toughest fibreglass will be abraded quickly doing that, unless they have a sacrificial layer which is regularly renewed
As I recall, ones destined for beach recovery are reinforced.
Been a while since I had a tour of their place in East Cowes, where some are built, to remember what I was told about the differences.
Yeah - pics show some of them seem to have a layer of something applied to the hull in âhigh wearâ areasâŚ
And that will be one getting a âfloat-onâ recovery. The landing trailer on wet sand goes into the water for recovery. Probably beaches in some conditions.
The one in the vid canât do that - trailers on shingle donât work well.
At lower tide they may use the sand and float-on.
Edit: Seems they do a bit of both. (Apologies for FB)
Impressive kit âŚ
As I say, am new to this. Canât find a setting which gives the âEmbedded sharingâ authorisation you suggest i need. Can you advise?
If you edit the video in YT Studio, and go to the bottom of the page of settings, click on âShow moreâ
Some way down the next page, this needs to be checked âŚ
Very much appreciated. Should work now and apologies not realised, but leaned something new today
No probs.
The sort of wing shape of the surf from her bow waves just after she comes to a stop on the beach is a visual treat; the sort of thing you wouldnât normally be aware of except in a drone video. Great stuff!
Nice video.
The shannon lifeboats are always driven onto the beach then recovered. If you get to look under one any part of the hull that can make contact with the beach has a wear strip which I dont even remember being metal i think it was just a seperate strip of fibreglass. Just past the strip it still takes some damage which you can see in the second pic but it can be fixed when they get overhauled.
