RTF Drone Photo Challenge 12th to 25th April - Traffic - Winners Announced

And you have chosen:

RULES

The usual rules apply, reproduced here as we know you faithfully read, digest and abide by them every round of RTF.

The requirement is to submit a single still image created using a drone to illustrate the subject of the competition. This round will run from 00:01 Sunday 12th April until 23:00 Saturday April 25th 2026; the subject is Traffic

The image must be captured while the competition is open. It is a Reason To Fly Challenge so please show that the image is created by a flying camera!

Editing is confined to colour and exposure adjustments and crop only. There must be no removal or pasting of an object. Stacked images, HDR images and non-spherical panoramas are considered single images for the purposes of this competition.

Images must be posted with the following information as a minimum:

In Capitals as the first line of your post:

THIS IS MY ENTRY

If this is not done at the time of posting the picture will be ignored. Should it be necessary to change your picture then delete the previous picture and add “This is my entry” - as above - as the first line of your new post. If in any doubt contact the Challenges Committee
(@Challenges_Committee)

Further Information is required

  • Location
  • Time and date
  • Aircraft/camera used
  • Feel free to add any further information that you think will be of interest

Voting

The members of GADC will judge images. They may vote for any number of pictures through an anonymous poll open for two days after the closing date for competition entries.

Voting in the poll is open to all GADC members, whether they have entered the competition or not.

The Challenge Committee may request the original media in case of a dispute.

Schedule

The competition subject will be announced every second Saturday around 22:30. The subject will be chosen by a poll of GADC members selecting from three that have been picked at random from the subject list. You may make additions to the list at any time.

The competition will run from Sunday 00.01 to Saturday 23.00 fourteen days later. Voting by poll will be open for a further two days until Monday 22:00

The winner (and second and third-placed competitors if there are sufficient entries) will be announced shortly after the vote is closed

Have Fun! Be Safe!

All flights are the sole responsibility of the individual conducting them. Each competitor must abide by the drone code and adhere to the limitations and restrictions imposed upon them by aviation law, the aircraft being used and the qualifications they hold. Forty thousand headmen couldn’t make me change my mind if it were a choice between a dead man and the blind. If a flight is undertaken in a restricted zone proof of permission having been granted is required.

Sorry going to change it as I see in the rules you can do a flat / non-spherical pano and this is from the drone -

THIS IS MY ENTRY

Location - the iconic Swadhenge in Swadlincote, Derbyshire
Date/ Time - 13/04/2026 - 18:07
Aircraft - DJI Air 3s - 24mm lens - pano

This roundabout became infamous due to the amount of money spent by the council for very very little reward really - just some stones really - so now its become a bit of a meme really —

  • Roundabout at junction of Rayners Lane, Suffolk Road, Church Avenue and Whittington Way, Harrow
  • 12:10 13/4/2026
  • DJI Mini 3

This was just an initial test run, as I have done my leg in, it will have to do as my entry. Same cocnept as @LE60LAD but taken before his entry.

I would have like to have more traffic and early morning or evening lighting, but there we go.

Look forward to more traffic from others,

Peter

Bottom right there’s the roundabout on Central Drive. As you look at it it’s right to the promenade, down to the council’s market car park, up to Morrisons, Next, The Range and B&M and finally left towards Morecambe train station (track visible) and the town centre.
The photo includes the new McDonalds, finally cleared planning permission but not yet finished.

Blackpool Prom

A bit of a rushed job, had “her indoors” + friend in car on way home from a marine conservation workshop, said do you mind if I pop the drone up for 5? So here we are, Blackpool prom, just for a change. Traffic - pedestrian rail (tram), vehicular, horse drawn and for the eagle eyed amongst you marine (above the point of the roof of the lifeboat station) in Morecambe Bay with Lake District hills in Background.

Location, Junction of Grampian Way and Arleston Lane Sinfin Derby.
Sometimes a very busy traffic island, which includes the entrance to the local shopping centre. Particularly busy at school run times ( the young seem to lose the power to walk to and from school ) :joy::joy:

Some nice images in a roundabout way. But three tie for third place - well done to John - @JockyB

Well done to Peter - @Peteconnelly

And well done to Peter @pjmp

Second place is claimed by Ian - @Ian5 with a Rugeley roundabout

But our runaway winner for this round is Jennifer - @TheLittleRedJen who used her imagination and Photoshop skills to give us an abstract image of traffic

Congratulations to the five of you and well done and thank you to all who took part.

Now it’s time to hone those creative talents to produce images of Castles - enter here!

Thank you all! I was driving home after playing football (well, walking football) in Exeter on Friday night and I remembered I hadn’t entered, but I had the Mini in the back of the van. I was lucky to catch the blue lights of the Police car that went past
