RTF Drone Photo Competition 22nd June to July 5th - Moving Vehicles

You managed to select a subject from the three chosen at random β““πŸ„΄β“’πŸ„Ώβ“˜πŸ…ƒβ“” β“£πŸ„·β“” β“πŸ„Ώβ“ŸπŸ„°β“›πŸ„»β“˜πŸ„½β“– β“•πŸ„Ύβ“πŸ…ƒ πŸ…ƒβ“—πŸ„°β“£ β“¦πŸ„΄ πŸ…„β“’πŸ„΄β““!

For this challenge you have decided on Moving Vehicles as a suitable subject to photograph. You have until 23:00 on Saturday, July 5th to do so.

In the immortal words of the Pub Landlord, β€œWhere would we be without rules?” * So, to avoid any unpleasantness, here they are:

RULES

The requirement is to submit a still image created using a drone to illustrate the subject of the competition. This round will run from 00:01 Sunday 22nd June until 23:00 Saturday July 5th; the subject is Moving Vehicles

The image must be captured during the time that the competition is open. It is a Reason To Fly competition so please show that the image is created by a flying camera!

Editing is confined to colour and exposure adjustments and crop only. There must be no removal or pasting of an object.

Please post only one image, the image you wish to be judged, in this thread.

Images must be posted with the following information as a minimum:

In Capitals as the first line of your post:

THIS IS MY ENTRY

If this is not done at the time of posting the picture will be ignored. Should it be necessary to change your picture then delete the previous picture and add β€œThis is my entry” - as above - as the first line of your new post. If in any doubt contact the Challenges Committee
(@Challenges_Committee)

Further Information is required

  • Location
  • Time and date
  • Aircraft/camera used
  • Feel free to add any further information that you think will be of interest

Voting

The members of GADC will judge images. They may vote for any number of pictures through an anonymous poll open for two days after the closing date for competition entries.

Voting in the poll is open to all GADC members, whether they have entered the competition or not.

The judges may request the original media in case of a dispute.

Schedule

The competition subject will be announced every second Saturday around 22:30. The subject will be chosen by a poll of GADC members selecting from three that have been picked at random from the subject list. You may make additions to the list at any time.

The competition will run from Sunday 00.01 to Saturday 23.00 fourteen days later. Voting by poll will be open for a further two days until Monday 22:00

The winner, second and third-placed competitors will be announced shortly after the vote is closed

Have Fun! Be Safe!

All flights are the sole responsibility of the individual conducting them. Each competitor must abide by the drone code and adhere to the limitations and restrictions imposed upon them by aviation law, the aircraft being used and the qualifications they hold. * France! And where would we be if we had too many rules? Germany! If a flight is undertaken in a restricted zone proof of permission having been granted is required.

Congratulations Martin for being the first to spot the deliberate mistake. As you will have guessed the RTF announcement is prepared in advance of the result of the vote for the subject hence there are all options covered in both text and image , two of which need to be deleted,

I only got back after sneaking in a flight with the tide in at 21:59 so it was a rush to get the new RTF posted. Not helped with a happy wet dog shaking water everywhere and then leaning against my legs while I was typing.

I am going round the back of the bike sheds to have a stern word with myself. RTF may never be the same again …

NOT AN ENTRY
Well I’ve been thinking this one through, trying to go for the not so obvious ( maybe like motion blur ) which emphasises the Vehicles are moving rather than stationary so I thought I’d try a burst of 7 shots x 3 = 21 shots stack them together by image averaging them where there should be a gap between the moving motors & it churned out this old rubbish !!!:rofl::rofl:

When I first looked at it I thought it was a traffic jam! Thought strange thing to post in a moving vehicle challenge - vehicles not moving😸

More like a pot of jam !!!:+1:

Make a good subject that :man_running:t2::dashing_away:

If the shots were taken in a quicker burst or if the traffic was moving slower it may well have worked. with each vehicle image partially superimposed on the next, forming a long β€œtrain” .

You would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those pesky speeding drivers!

Might as well have a go, I’m just learning but it’s surprising how much it gets you out and learning

I am just reading about shutter speed, ISO and aperture on the course I am doing. if I understand it by the time this competition ends I will submit one. Thanks for the boost

There are also lots of youtube videos on that if you want just enough info to get you out there and trying for yourself, personally I’ve found that most helpful and likely compliment any more in-depth course etc. I had little to no idea not long ago, I’d like to think I had a tiny bit more of an idea now but honestly, it’s all about getting out there and trial and error, surprising how much you learn from doing that about other (related) stuff like when to go, weather etc :+1:

What an amazing day for a trip on the motorbikes with friends. I packed my drone and they gamely agreed to be filmed. This is a still frame from the video. (I’ve checked – it’s allowed!) I couldn’t really ask them to come back and do it all again so that I could take still images. And they needed their lunch and had scarpered off into the distance!
