The building was in use up to the first World War, but has decayed since. Mainly famous for the hanging monkey, on bottom right corner and the kayaking bear, bottom middle.
Thanks for the challenge, as it made me drive somewhere with the drone and fly over water for the first time.

Cambusnethan House also known as Cambusnethan Priory, Wishaw, North Lanarkshire.
Mini 4 Pro - 09/05/2025 - 19:40
There was originally a Norman tower house near the site of the present building, and this was replaced by a manor house during the 17th century. The manor house burned down in March 1816 and the present house was commissioned and built in 1820.The Priory was built for the Lockharts of Lee from Castlehill, Auchenglen, in South Lanarkshire. The family’s coat of arms is carved above the main entrance and etched in every balustrade of the main staircase inside. The arms represents a casket, heart and lock and derives from the tradition that the ancestors of this family carried Robert the Bruce’s heart back from the Holy Land

Perhaps a rare thing in Australia… an abandoned pub!
Ravaged by fire and floods (many floods) over years, there is a local campaign to bring back The Jolly Frog Hotel at Windsor NSW.
Nothing says “derelict” like a tree growing through the rooms.

The old flying boat station, Beaumaris, Anglesey

During the Second World War Britain bought Catalina flying boats from America, but needed to modify them to be suitable for coastal defence. The Saunders-Roe aircraft company bought a small estate just outside Beaumaris and built the hangers and a concrete slipway that are still visible today

Old Inverkeithing Primary School
DJI Mini 3

The primary school in Inverkeithing was built in 1874 and replaced by a new building in 2006. Unfortunately the building has been subject to arson and vandalism leaving the listed building in this sorry state.
You’ll see the 12c church to the side, the Forth bridges at the top and Edinburgh at the top left of the frame.

- Orient Cinema, Ayr
- 09/05/25 @ 17:00
- DJI Mini 4 Pro
The cinema opened in the centre of Ayr in 1932 and survived for more than 50 years before being repurposed as bingo hall in 1983, and later a nightclub. It was noted as being boarded up and unused in 2009 and has been sitting derelict ever since.
Now is the time to vote for the winning images. You can vote for up to 5 pictures and you can do so until 22:00 on Monday, May 12th.
Thank you all for taking the time to create great images of derelict buildings. We have three winners however and, in traditional reverse order, they are:
The now closed Derby Hippodrome Theatre - which is slated for repurposing if an owner can be found . John - @JockyB who secures third place - may see his council tax increasing if no one owns up to being responsible. It reminds us of one of our favourite films - The Smallest Show on Earth
Our next winner, second placed @leighwalker shows us a picture of a venerable Australian pub which had suffered from flooding in 1978 and was ravaged by fire in 2014. The arsonist responsible was convicted in 2018. Since then the building has been reclaimed by nature although a residents’ Facebook group is hoping to get the building restored. Unfortunately any local press articles giving more details are jealously guarded by paywalls so we can’t find any further information for you
Our winner for this round is no stranger to us, it’s John - @Drumsagard - with another stately home although this one is probably not one of his more popular wedding venues. Maybe he should buy it to renovate and offer a venue, catering and photography combination package? Cambusnethan House is currently givien an element of protection by the “Friends of Cambusnethan Priory” established in 2014 with the aim of saving the building from further deterioration.
Congratulations to our three winners and thanks to all who entered and/or voted. You have another chance for glory with the current RTF round - Meandering Streams and Rivers
Thanks all who voted
Thanks for all the votes folks Well done @JockyB and @leighwalker and everyone else who entered
